Hopefully a fan will catch a ball with their beer so the Bucco's can make it on Sportscenter

Me personally, I'm sending Rivero out there. I'm not worried about the inning, I'm worried about what's happening right in front of me. I don't think just because it's the 8th inning Watson will automatically be better.  A hanging 86 mph slider is going to get crushed whether it's the 8th or 9th inning.

OK.  Then who pitches the ninth?

The point is every game and every scenario is different. Why lock Rivero into one inning, one role when you need him in other situatione?

I mean if the trick is Tony Watson is gonna start throwing 95 again and be dominant just by switching innings, that would be some dumb luck and I'm all for it.

I just see a bad pitcher right now. I don't want him in the 8th or 9th. And I don't want to waste Rivero waiting for a 9th inning save that may never come.

It's not an easy decision for Hurdle, obviously.

They have to trying something different. Watson won't even be in Pittsburgh in about a month and a half...

I agree, they gotta try something different. Watson's trade value isn't going to very high.

Starting with the series against the Cubs, the next 10 games should tell us whether we will be buyers or sellers in the month of July. If the pitching can turn around then I think they still have a shot at the title. They are playing a lot of young talent that is inconsistent at times, but impressive at other times. With Nova, Cole, and Tailion, they have 3 top tier pitchers, when they are perfoming that way. So i guess we'll see how they fare against the 3 teams ahead of them in the next 10 days. I still believe!!

Just use Rivero for 3 innings a night from now on.

The one positive takeaway from last night. How insane was Bell's home run?  That's a good poke for a right handed hitter to the notch, but for a lefty to hit a line drive home run 410 feet to left center is pretty freakish. I'm not sure if I've ever seen anything like that in all the games I've watched at PNC Park.
