I've been around for 6 years. 3 of the 4 Lilly pitchers have never pitched in all the years they've played Pony League and legion. The one threw 3 innings 2 years ago in Legion and pitched some in Pony League. I'm sorry I missed it being out of town. But heard the umpire wasn't very knowledgeable.

daungst wrote:Best response I can give is... It is quite arguably the ugliest game I have ever been involved with as a coach.   Lilly was completely out of pitching and threw 4-5 kids who hadn't pitched at all this year and some for years.  As far as us, we had a left handed catcher and a shortstop who has not played there before but you play the hand you are dealt and do what you can. This became a huge game for us when Lilly defeated St. Michael the night before.  We were up 14-3 and 2 outs from ending the game when the wheels fell off the bus.  Gotta give Lilly credit, they never stopped playing... As far as us, when we got up... Our number one priority changed to making sure we had every arm available for Thursday nights first playoff game.   Mission accomplished !!!  Was an ugly game to coach, even uglier to play and I am certain just as painful to watch as a fan.

How does St.Michael go from 14-5 to 19-5 overnight ? Putting in 5 forfeit wins for games that were never rescheduled because of weather?
I would expect and hope some type of schedule reduction next year and elimination of some teams.
Is the championship a 3 game series or one 9 inning game?

Well, out of the blue, after not playing Richland at all due to their lack of players, they suddenly fielded a team for a DH the other day, and now are playing St. M. today, a DH starting at 5:30.  So the assumed forfeit wins are gone, and they have to be played.  Maybe this is Richland's tuneup for the Legion D2 tournament beginning the 20th in St. Michael & Portage fields.  How a franchise that draws from Richland, Windber, and Westmont, and has problems getting enough players, is beyond me.  So the forfeits St.M. received were only from a recent schedule with Ebensburg, and Cernic's.  Congrats to Lilly for giving it their best shot.  Good luck in the D2.

You're kidding right with Richland playing a DH today with SM ? Doesn't the best of 3 start tomorrow?

I heard that the best of 3 first round does start tomorrow, and the Championship is one 7 inning game.
I heard nothing about undoing recorded forfeits.
The website does, however, show SOM @ NC tonight for a DH.

No, I DO NOT kid.  It -WAS- to have been a DH, and start at 5:30, but Richland only had 9 players, and after 4 innings it was 14-0 Saints and Richland played the 5th and said enough.  It did look like after a brief break as all DH's do, that they could have only gone another inning or maybe 2 before it got dark.  Yes, the Playoffs start tomorrow, in Claysburg @ 5:30, Fri. in St. M. @ 5:30, and not sure but Sat. if needed may be in Claysburg @ 1 PM?

After 3, 0-0
Cecere throwing for St. Mike.
Chamberlain for Clay.
Clay has 5 Singles, St. Mike 1.
In bot 3, St. Mike LF threw out a runner at Home, that tried to score on a Sac Fly. Perfect 1-hopper to the Catcher.
