WestPAC Early Season

Postby BigSkyCountry » March 31st, 2019, 4:29 pm

After a week of baseball in the month of March, many of the teams got 2 games in. Conemaugh Township, Rockwood, North Star and Blacklick Valley are the teams that are 2-0 after two games played. Meyersdale and Salisbury are both sitting at 1-0 while all other teams have at least one loss on the board. I would anticipate that Conemaugh Township and North Star will push to be the WestPAC North rep as the season progresses towards the WestPAC Championship. Portage always has a solid hitting bunch and Blacklick is a well coached team, either of these two could end up in that shuffle. Meyersdale and Rockwood are my favorites for the WestPAC South. Shanksville and Berlin both have young talent and could disrupt the predictions on any given day, pending pitching matchups. With the games played to date, there have been a few impressive performances. With two games played, Bryce McCleester and Devin Foster are both carrying .667 batting averages and Troy Emert and Eli Brogher are both batting .600. Windber's Jake Reynolds 2 homeruns. With at least 7 innings pitched, Devin Foster, Troy Emert and Cy Saylor all have an ERA of 0.00. With double digit strikeouts are: Foster with 17, Emert with 14, Kozlavac (Portage) with 12 and Saylor with 11. Anxious to see how the season unfolds. In my eyes, the WestPAC North is way more competitive than what the WestPAC South affords. Conemaugh Township, North Star, Portage, Blacklick Valley and Windber would all be able to be in line for the South title.  My way too early picks for the WestPAC Championship will be Conemaugh Township facing Meyersdale. There will be a repeat showing for District 5 AA Championship between the 2 (I cannot speak on behalf of Everett who is new to the AA race and has seen some success as of late). District 5 A will also be a WestPAC matchup between Rockwood and either Shanksville and Berlin. Just needed a little baseball chatter going on. Here is hoping for good weather, a lot of baseball and healthy rosters throughout the season.
