That's why you can't put teams in the playoff that didn't make their own conference championship. They basically get a bye through probably the toughest round of the playoff system. Ridiculous.

Also why all conferences should do away with divisional format like Big 12 did.

Although it's easier for the Big 12 considering they only have 10 teams and can play a balanced conference schedule.

The money is too great in college football and the 15-20 true blue bloods want to create a system that shelters themselves and only allows those teams to truly compete for a national title.

Basketball can also allow 68 teams in the tournament, that's physically impossible in college football. How many weeks of the season do you want to drag this out? If the tournament was only a sweet 16, you would never see a Davidson either. More people would watch the national championship if UCF was in it. It's already been discussed on here that SEC vs SEC is not enjoyable to the masses. When only 4 teams get to go, you gotta go with common sense. If 8 teams were in we'd be arguing about why the 12th team got screwed, if 16 were in we'd be mad that the 20th best team got screwed. It is what it is. If UCF is that good, then they should not be playing in a conference that is inferior year in and year out when it comes to strength.

Here is how i would change it.

16 teams make the playoffs. 10 conference champions and 6 at large teams.

2 non conference games (dont need 4)
8 Conference games (add a conference championship in if you want or need to)

And then its only 4 more games. Max anyteam would play is 15 which is no different than current set up

College schedules are made years in advance point 1. Its not like ncaafb video game where you decide opponents right before the season starts. Point 2 is UCF was 0-12 two years ago, no organization would ever guess theyd go from winless to undefeated in two years

I agree.  UCF should call an immediate press conference to announce that despite not being invited that they are joining the ACC.

Well it's no shock they were 0-12, I mean have you seen the teams they play?!? Haha, joking aside, I would be pro an expanded playoff but 16 would be too large, I say drop 1 game (OOC) and expand it to 8-10 teams. What happens to Notre Dame if you get rid of too many ooc games? Heck I think Mich. St. was ranked 16th at one time, they weren't not national championship good. 10-25 rankings fluctuations waaayyyyyyy too much each week for those teams to be considered.

Well with the 16 team system 10 of them would be conference champions. The teams who would of might of qualified are as followed in no order

Conference champions

1. Georgia
2. Clemson
3. Oklahoma
4. Ohio state
5. Usc
6. Ucf
7. Florida atlantic
8. Toledo
9. Boise state
10. Troy

At large

11. Alabama
12. Wisconsin
13. Penn state
14. Auburn
15. Miami
16. Washington
17. Notre dame

And so on. You could even limit it to 12 and give top 4 ranked seeds a bye and limit it to 2 atlarge teams.

..............You're putting way too much stock in conference champions. It's important but it's just a piece of the puzzle. 8 teams is plenty, 10 at the most. But how many blow outs of inferior conference teams would it take to change again? In a normal year you would let a 10-3 American Comference champion in over a 1 loss Alabama who lost the SEC title game?

All of this over a 12th ranked team with the 77th ranked SOS and 3 wins against the top 50 being left out of the top 4??? Lol. Only reason they have 3 wins against teams in the top 50 is because those 2 teams they beat played the same lousy schedule they did. U can't play in a bad conference and then schedule Maine, Austin Peay and Fla Int in the OOC and expect to get a free pass. Sorry they were placed exactly where they deserved to be.
