I think most of the laughing is at you knowitall. Man your username really is misleading. I am not a Pitt fan but the instability of that program and lack of success without Wanny is so evident.

Not to be a prick but Pitt just won 5 games this year. You do realize that these schedules are built to give you at least 3 wins out of the gate, right. I could coach Pitt to a 3 win campaign. Some Pitt fans think they will be much better next year but they are losing Whitehead, Henderson, Maddox, Weay, and 3 OL. I don't see it but we shall see.

Pitt has been good or even better without him???

Wannstedt won 27 games his last 3 seasons. They have won 46 in the 8 seasons since he has left. The numbers don't lie. As John Madden says "you are what your record says you are" and for Pitt to fire a coach that averaged 9 wins a year over the prior 3 seasons is absolutely comical. Wannstedt got Pitt to 10 wins and a 15th ranked finish.

In those 8 seasons: Pitt has had to fire a coach a few days after they hired him, had a coach leave for Arizona State, had a coach leave for Wisconsin, and now have a coach that maybe could be the right guy.

Pitt was pretty good from 2008-2010 with Wanny and he was pulling in some pretty good talent.  Lot of NFL players on that 2009 team that won 10 games.
He squandered some years. But he wasn't terrible.  Pitt probably would have won more games with four years after he left than Graham and Christ won.
He wasn't fired for results.  He was fired because Pitt led the nation in arrests.

Also Pitt's schedules aren't designed to give you 3 wins out of the gate unfortunately. Pitt played two top 10 teams. They didn't get a game with Georgia State.

There's no benefit to play two tough non conference games in college football. Pitt should really stop scheduling that way.

It took Dave Wannstedt years to get Pitt back to the level Walt Harris has it at when he was replaced.  Dave Wannstedt also had the luxury of coaching in the Bad East (or was it the Big Least?).  Had he not been a Pitt football player at one time no one would care that he is gone.  It’s high time Pitt fans get over his loss.

C’mon Crimson. Don’t play that card. Pitt plays 8 conference games. Penn State played 9 (5 on the road).
Penn State played Georgia State (FBS) and Akron (FBS) along with Pitt (FBS). Ironically, only one of those teams didn’t go to a bowl game.
Pitt’s schedule did feature Okie State and Penn State which I give them a lot of credit for but they also played Youngstown State (FCS) and Rice (1-11, FBS). That’s 2 wins. If you can’t win a single conference game, that’s Kansas level pathetic. So yeah, schedules are set up to give you 3 wins out of the gate.

And Pitt won five games, including three conference games. Which team was the third cupcake? Duke, Virginia or Miami?

There are 66 P5 teams and independents. 62 of them won at least 3 games. 61 of them won at least 4 games.

The 4 that didn’t win 3 were Oregon State (1), Kansas (1), Baylor (1), and Illinois (2). Baylor is playing under huge sanctions.

So yeah, these schedules are set up to guarantee you 3 wins. Not sure what you are arguing.

You said out of the gate, Pitt played two top 10 teams out of the gate. That's what I referring to.
