But the fresh start goes for years until they get it right then they have a 2 year shot, then back to square one. Just sell the team and build a larger football field for the Steelers and a smaller one for Pitt, maybe add a bowling alley?

They have Cutch, Marte, Polanco, Bell, Glasnow, Tallion, and Rivero. Plenty of talent to compete. They just need to put it together. Maybe by actually adding something more of value. They just never want to add a realistic piece to the pie because of the money. You add a legitimate ace or infielder to the mix and you're right there. Plus Kang screwed us up.

Start over?  Come on.  The nucleus is still here.  Cole, Taillon, Nova, Kuhl and Williams is a quality rotation.  Bell at first, Harrison at second, Moustakas at third and Mercer at shortstop is a good infield.  Marte, McCutchen and Polanco in the outfield.  Rivero at closer.  All year.  Not in June.  If Glasnow or Meadows figure it out?  The Pirates may never again be as good as they can be in 2018.  The Cubs may lose Arrieta.  The Pirates also may never again be as good as the Cubs or the Cardinals.  They might as well fold as to start over.

Would you trade Gerrit Cole for Ross Ohlendorf and Jose Tabata?

The team you just named just finished 75-87. It's not 1 guy, it's multiple guys that would need to make this team better.

Pirates were 9-10 against the Cubs last year and 8-11 against the Cardinals....in a horrible year. They're not leagues behind these guys.

They couldn't beat the bad teams last year, that was the main issue. Reds owned us.

Would you trade Andrew Cahsner for Anthony Rizzo?

Would you trade Jason Hammel for Addison Russell?

Would you trade R.A. Dickey for Noah Syndergaard?

Seems like the Cubs and Mets were able to turn established major leaguers for core pieces for years to come.

The astros missed the playoffs in 2016... They didnt throw everything away because the cubs were suppose to win this year... They added to their strong nucleus and improved.

The pirates have a good nucleus but when you keep getting rid of it piece by piece instead of adding to it you are going to lose fans. The pirates have held a good roster for about the last 5 seasons but NEVER make a big splash or two to add to it! Why should pirate fans trust another rebuild process when the org doesnt want to pull the trigger when they had the chance these last 5 years.

Gerrit Cole for Andy LaRoche, Bryan Morris, Brandon Moss and Craig Hansen?

Taillon missed extended time with cancer.  Marte missed time due to PEDs.  Rivero wasn't installed as closer because he played for the Pirates.  Bell, Kuhl and Williams have a year under their belts.  Why would anyone want to start over?
