What will they do with the other guys they lined-up for left field - Nava, Saunders, Brent - and you have to get Sean Rodriguez his at-bats (sarcasm), and of course Adam Frazier is a future batting champ (sarcasm). When is Neal going to make the comment that there is too much talent to choose from.

Pirates are so deceitful. Everything they do has a bottom line associated with it. Then they market it as a move to help them win.

5 days before this trade the Rays designated Dickerson for assignment (which should show how much they value him). This means every team in the league had 7 days to work out a trade. After 5 days, the Pirates give away a middle reliever and a prospect to get this guy.

Why not wait 2 more days and acquire him without giving anything in return? It’s not like the Rays were getting any great offers for him because they were willing to take a guy with a $5.5 salary and coming off his worst professional year just to avoid arbitration with the Dickerson.

If he was so coveted, you would think their would be more interest for this guy.  He does have 90 career HRs but he also has played in Colorado and Tampa which inflates those numbers by like 50%.

It still is a helpful move whether or not all that is true.  They didn't have an actual plan for left field until yesterday.

I’m not disagreeing with the fact they are probably better than before the move. But they could be even better if they waited 2 days and just claimed him off the waiver wire. They would still have the INF prospect and Hudson. But no, they just seen this as an opportunity to dump Hudson’s contract.

Daniel Hudson is bad though.

Because they essentially replaced Hudson's 5.5 million this year with Dickerson's 5.75 (?) million this year and moved a guy who wasn't that great last year and clears a spot in what could be a crowded bullpen and have a guy now who should 100% be their left fielder instead of the island of misfit toys platooning out there.
