They don't distinguish between first, second team anymore.  It's just one all-state team now.

I removed that to avoid confusion.

I prefer the first team second team method and don’t need 6 all state QBs per class but nonetheless appreciate the work that goes into this and providing the kids with the recognition a lot of them don’t get elsewhere. Well done.

I'm not sure how any all-state list that has 6 quarterbacks, but only 5 offensive linemen has ANY validity to it. I know the glamorous positions get all the attention in newspaper articles and tv highlights, but this shouldn't be the case with an "all state" list. There are 5 times as many starting offensive linemen as there are starting quarterbacks in the state...reflect that in your list.

The problem is that they probably don’t get that many offensive linemen nominated. So that’s basically what it comes down to. Nobody watches offensive line play except coaches and the parents of the linemen so it’s hard to get a read on which linemen should be all-state.

It’s easier to get linemen recognition on the local level because newspapers talk to each coach usually so there’s more of a personal touch there.

You're absolutely right....but surely more than 5 received some notoriety?  My understanding is this list is compiled by PA writers, who should be coming from the local level and therefore should bring some insight from their discussions with coaches.  If not, then maybe scale back the number of QBs to more accurately reflect the make-up of a team.  More quarterbacks than linemen on a list is a bad look.

Are these PA Writers stationed in Penn's Valley territory by any chance? Seems like a lot of love for the Rams.
