Not sure how you justify pick of Cecere over Hauser for first team QB?

There are valid arguments at multiple positions most years. Usually I dont agree with a few. I just hope the tribune democrat continues this. I look forward to it. That previously posted all-state 10 qbs and 5 o-lineman or whatever is an absolute joke. In my opinion they shouldnt even bother.

I think they should continue to bother to have an all-state team, but it is hard to make happen because the voters only see the players they cover in person.

I think it speaks to the journalist laziness that encompasses our entire country (generally speaking here). In 2018, it should be easier than ever for the writers to put together an accurate all-state ballot. Heck I live in Harford County, MD and I watched at least 15 or 20 games this year from my couch through various streaming services. I know I couldn’t do that even 5 years ago, let alone 10 or 15 years ago.

If my JOB is to report on high school sports and I’m not using the same services that a casual fan can access, then I probably shouldn’t have that job.

Not to rant here but the writers and journalists anymore are pathetic (once again, generally speaking. I know of very good ones but they are few and far between). 7th graders being taught MLA formatting and citations are held to a better journalistic standard for their research than writers at national syndications like the Associated Press. That is a problem.

They could gather a lot of useful information by following the experts, the bleachercoaches.

That’s kind of lame.  If I work at the Pittsburgh Pist Gazette and I cover games for 16 weeks of teams in our coverage area, When it comes to voting for all state teams, I have to spend hours of watching film of other teams from parts of the state for free to have a good all-state teams?  That’s insane and pointless.

Hey hey let's identify the elephant in the room. I don't think Hauser had a dad who was chairman of the LHAC...

Either does Cecere. His dad is a chairman at District 6 and he has 0 influence on postseason recognition.

With all due respect, so what? That’s their JOB. They are sports writers. That would like a nurse saying it was lame that after helping deliver a baby, they have to check it’s vitals too.

In my industry, I am not an expert in every field. But I have 8-10 trusted colleagues that I use regularly for information and vise verses. Should a WPIAL reporter know a lot about a defensive end from Strath Haven outside of Philadelphia? No. But they easily could have a trusted colleague in the area where they would pick up the phone and say “hey, name me 5 guys from your coverage area that I should do some research on for my all-State team ballot. Here are 5 guys that we’re exceptional from our area.”  That just cut the research time down by several hours.
If a newspaper/website/organization etc. is going to publish an All-State team then put in some friggin’ effort.
