The Elkers will work for a high percentage shot. Hold the ball all game as in freezing it? No. With their style of seeking a high percentage shot, it becomes a high risk offense since there are many passes until the shot presents themselves. A tradeoff to be sure. In reality, anyone who thinks of Ri...

I'm liking Ridgway's chances against Sewickley.

Upset in terms of the finish in their district tournament. In this case, 6-2 Purchase Line vs 7-4 Jennette.

Are we all chalk in the first round?

Make those brackets out. Any upsets looming? Jennette over Purchase Line? Mercyhurst Prep over Karns City looks doable. In girls I'll take Sweickley Acad. over AC Vallley.

Re: I'm liking Jburg over N Clarion

Johnsonburg. Never got the respect they deserved in the D9 power ratings all season long. It really stood out to anyone following in the region. http://d9sports.com/2017-18-allegheny-grille-of-foxburg-d9sports-com-district-9-basketball-power-ratings/ Best to earn that respect than to have it handed ...

But back to the shot clock, I don't think it's necessary, but I don't think it would hurt the game either..  That said, I'm warming up to a warning for stalling with clear criteria for when the specter of freezing the ball rears it's head. Not that often but when it does, something can stop it. Wor...

Re: Does highschool need a shot clock?

There is also a difference between actually freezing the ball and methodically working the ball until a player spots a breakdown in the defense to exploit.  To handle the ball that long is risky. Its a high risk offense seeking a high percentage shot whereas an up tempo style is low risk often times...

Does highschool need a shot clock?

Not necessarily 30 seconds. It could be longer.  Or a stalling warning followed by forfeiture of the ball?
