You can't directly correlate health care with life expectancy as the only reason for living a long life. There are many factors that influence life expectancy, one of which is the level of health care. Accidental deaths (care to guess who leads the world in auto accident deaths?) and infant mortality play a big role. A report that came out a few months ago showed the US with a comparatively high infant death rate. They found it was due to the fact that the US is more likely to report infant deaths than most other nations. If the baby even takes one breath, the US will report it as a death and not stillborn, where other countries may not report it at all even if the baby would live for days. Climate and many other factors such as diversity of population contribute to life expectancy.

I wouldn't use Medicare and Social Security as an example of how to run a government program. They constantly struggle with solvency. The friends that I have that use the VA go there because it's cheap, not because they expect a high level of care. It's mediocre at best.

Here is a GREAT analogy from dear leader. He likens a government run program to that of private companies when asked about keeping private competition to government run health care.

Please, dear leader, please keep talking without the teleprompter.

So what's wrong with the way the post office is run? First of all, they provide more services than the private companies (FedEx and UPS). The USPS delivers mail to every household in America 6 days a week. Who else are you going to pay $0.42 to take a card or letter across the country for you? If anything is killing the post office it's technology. People send emails and faxes and even e-cards where they used to send actual mail.

If private insurance is so wonderful and government run programs are so bad, then it seems that private insurance shouldn't have anything to worry about. However, they seem to be fighting awfully hard to kill Obama's health care initiative. It's hard to imagine why they would spend so much money and fight so hard if they don't feel threatened.

Did you watch the video?

If you want to know what is wrong with the post office, you should ask dear leader. He's the one that says the post office is always the one having problems.

So, don't ask me that question. I'm not the one that put my foot in my mouth.

Ridgedad you obviously agree that there is something wrong with the post office. I'd like to know what you find so objectionable. I really can't ask the President that myself, now can I?

I imagine that as often as you had to defend the previous president for putting his foot in his mouth, you've just been chomping at the bit waiting for the current president to make mistakes. When they write books and and create hundreds of websites dedicated to him butchering the English language, then maybe we can talk on equal footing.

Um, did I defend the previous president for putting his foot in his mouth? I might have, but I don't remember it. I guess you remember it though, since you said I did it often.

Again, I never said I thought anything was wrong with the post office. How is it so obvious that I agree with that? Dear leader said this, not I.

But anyway, what did you think of the fake doctor video? You had to love that.

Anyone can put their foot in their mouth. We've ALL done it. But to intentionally deceive others is a whole 'nuther ballgame.

The fact that you rate healthcare with this list makes me question your level of intelligence. If you really think countries like Saint Helena, Wallis and Futuna, Luxembourg, ect. have better healthcare than the US then ask yourself if you would travel to those countries for a major medical procedure. Because I know myself that I wouldn't trust doctors in half the countries on that list with taking out my tonsils.
