Re: Pennsylvania All-State Basketball Teams

Looking at the bracket again, had Richland won the district they would have had to play Lancaster Mennonite in the first round.  LV fell to them.  Then the road would have included Westinghouse and James Ellis, who just signed with Duquesne the other day, D1.  Arguably beating Alliquippa was big, bu...

Re: Pennsylvania All-State Basketball Teams

I agree that Burke won it by default. Upset by mccort so they didn't play in lh game. Upset by ligonier in d6. Going to 6 classifications spread out the talent. Coach Arrigale wasn't going to win it again but should have. I've seen NG a few times over the-years and this was their least talented tea...

Re: Pennsylvania All-State Basketball Teams

I know a few schools that have turned to "Hudl Assist" to do their stat tracking of rebounds, assists, steals, etc.  Hudl breaks down the film within a 24 hour window with stats.  I believe the film company Krossover does the same.  So having a third party breakdown your film is a great wa...

Re: Pennsylvania All-State Basketball Teams

Also a quick question. Dillow, was also all-state in football correct? Who were some others in our area that has received all-state honors in multiple sports in the same academic year?

Re: Pennsylvania All-State Basketball Teams

Just taking a wild guess here.  Maybe someone can shed some light on this. With the announcement being from the Associated Press Sports Writers, so I'd imagine they conduct the voting.  To my knowledge the Altoona Mirror is an Associated Press contributor, the Tribune-Democrat might be as well.  Poi...

Re: Coaching Changes

Today is the deadline for the Chestnut Ridge boys basketball applications. Anyone hear of anyone who applied? Local update: I did read that Ewert got the NBC girls job after Eckenroad stepped down after a nice run. I haven't heard about any applicants at Chestnut Ridge.  I saw they had a good year,...

Recruiting - JV.

Juniata Valley Girls Basketball will be holding a girls camp for grades 3rd-9th.  Could they want to take a look at the area's crop coming up?  Is this their way of "reloading" for another "run?"  My daughter won't be attending this camp, even if it comes with a tour of a nice to...

Coaching Changes

News of changes out of District 5 to my knowledge: Boys: Southern Fulton's Hendershot after 27 years retired from coaching.  Saw the job opening in the newspaper the other day.  What a great program he built there!  From what I hear, one of the most respected in the area.   Rumored Chestnut Ridge's ...

Re: basketball 1-22 thru 1-27

I was just reading the Altoona Mirror, what went on at Chestnut Ridge last night? Overtime with Hollidaysburg? Hollidaysburg won on a buzzer beater by Haupt. How did this happen? People on social media said it was a war. Anyone there last night?
