Re: Is 2013 North Star the best team to ever come thru D5?
I have coached in the area for about 15 years. The level of play has only gotten better. The North Star team from last year is the best I have seen in D5 and generally, the top teams now are a step above those of 10-15 years ago.

Re: Pens lost!!!
You take the 10 best players in every major sport and put them up against each other. The NBA wins hands down. There is no one in hockey with near the athleticism of LeBron James, Dwight Howard, Kobe Bryant. Even Steve Nash, who is unathletic by NBA standards, is a great athlete. Baseball struggles ...

Pens lost!!!
Yeah!!! We can stop talking about ice polo and I can return to the discussion.
Are we in Canada? Why so much hockey love? If you want to see athletes, watch the NBA playoffs this weekend.

Re: NBA Conference Finals Predictions
I agree with the picks. I like the Lakers in 5 rather than 6 and I like the Magic in 5 also. I think there will be a tendancy to overrate the Celtics after they beat the Caveliers, but LeBron was not himself for those last two games. I think the ability of the Magic to hit threes will be key. Paul P...

Re: Obama v. BCS
If no one forces them, then they will not change. There is too much money wrapped up in the whole thing. That is why the BCS conferences want it to stay the way it is. That is why the BCS and the tv networks want it to stay the way it is. However, it makes the system unfair to the smaller market sch...

Re: Big East vs. Big Ten in Basketball
Look at the Bracketology column on espn.com. The Big East has 8 teams represented and the Big 10 has 5. The Big East also has most of their teams seeded in the top 5 of regions. Lunardi, who compiles the column, has picked the tournament fields correctly within one team for like 5 straight years. If...

Re: Is Lebron Afraid of Dunk Contest?
LeBron is a freakish athlete and would be great in the dunk contest. Other big names have participated, recently Dwight Howard. But recently, it has not included a lot of big name players. Kobe won way back in the day. Howard was not as big a name when he entered. Has Dwayne Wade ever entered? I thi...

Re: Pitt/UCONN
Jamie Dixon is possibly the best coach in the nation. He is an average recruiter, but he has built a great program. I love watching Pitt basketball and have for the past few years. I am a Buckeye fan, but I get frustrated with Matta struggling to make the tournament with great recruits while Dixon t...

Re: Final Sagarin ratings for 2009
Deliverance, the Big 10 won titles in '97 and '02. The Big 12 won in '00 and '05. Not much difference. Oklahoma has embarassed themselves at least as much if not moreso than OSU in title games. Oklahoma has lost three title games by an average of 20 points. Ohio State lost two by an average of 21 po...

Re: CNNSI Top 25 for 2010
Good point Herbstreit. Why doesn't his top 10 have credibility? He looked at how teams finished this year and what they have coming back. Boise was undefeated and has 21 starters back. OSU was 11-2, finished at #5 and has almost everyone back. Yes, the SEC was underrepresented, but the SEC only had ...
