Re: Guilfoyle-Richland wk 7
You nailed the story line: BG's O-line. They return only two starters from last year, Donoughe and Bithell. Donoughe's only around #200 but plays every position on the o-line as needed. (There have been a lot of lineups as they look for the right formula). Bithell was out last week with a concussion...

Re: Shady Side Academy to forfeit game
Addressing #2 from above: It has become extremely difficult for kids to fail out of school. Graduation rates count so heavily in academic rankings and PR that the pressure to pass kids is intense. Administrators make life difficult for teachers who fail kids and teachers are fast learners. I'll buy ...

Re: Shady Side Academy to forfeit game
There are lots of factors, but I think the biggest is digital entertainment. Kids walk around the house bumping into walls while playing video games, watching Youtube, Netflix, taking pictures of half their faces to post to social media, etc. They can't do homework without checking the phone every 4...

Scrappy, Tough Lineman
The recent thread on best offensive lines veered into a discussion of size, strength, and toughness of today's kids compared to those of a previous generation. All agreed that the comparison was problematic at best. Let's give some current tough guys the credit they deserve. Most small schools w...

Re: United’s Kyle Silk moves to Ligonier Valley
Wait till United’s RB feels left out, he’ll be on LV roster too. Why not make a super team They've already got one of those. Hard to top what they already have at that spot. I highly doubt anyone from LV had anything to do with this transfer, as insinuated earlier in the thread. I believe it was...

Re: United’s Kyle Silk moves to Ligonier Valley
Fballrules, any word on the tuition question raised above? Does tuition payment have any bearing eligibility decisions?

Re: United’s Kyle Silk moves to Ligonier Valley
One item that seems to get left out of the transfer discussion is tuition. It's my understanding that most school districts will admit students who reside outside the district boundary if the family is willing to pay. Do many of the athletic transfers occur when a residence does not change, no hards...

Re: Bg football propaganda machine
So, some BG players didn't turn out to be such big college prospects? I'll add to that: many former BG standouts who went on to play in college didn't stick with football. How you interpret these two facts comes down to how you've felt about BG all along. If the team's recent success bothers you...

Re: State Championship Thread
Guilfoyle boys in (for them) uncharted territory.
Average height on the starting 5: 5'10"-5'11". They've put in two herculean efforts and managed two victories by the slimmest of margins in the last two games. Unless the 3's drop at a high rate, size could be their downfall tomorrow.
