Re: Bishop Guilfoyle vs Homer Center

The last BG - HC district title game was a classic. I wouldn't look for HC to be in position to capitalize on a late-game BG meltdown this time around. This one should be decided midway through the 3rd quarter. 35-6 BG at the end of the 3rd quarter.

Re: Friday Scores 11/18

McGeary and Ramsey were at AASD until 9th and 8th grade respectively.  Most of the bellyaching about Catholic schools relates to athletes coming from beyond district geographical boundaries, so these two cases shouldn't upset anyone.  These guys are obviously BIG contributors on the line, but it wou...

Re: Matchups

Half of those teams would be playing the class below them. That might be a hard sell.

Re: D6 Returners

BG will lose some key players next year. Irwin, Trybus, Frederick, McGeary, Yahner. Expect a dropoff. They'll still be tough in the regular season, but without that core a deep run is far less likely, and the crazy win streak won't last through next season. In 2018 the talent bubble will have passed.

Re: Best sportsman moment of the year?

Bishop Guilfoyle lost a fan a few weeks back. He and his two brothers had attended BG sporting events for decades. The football team went to the funeral. A family member wrote a letter of appreciation that was published in the Altoona Mirror.

Re: District 6 A Playoff Thread

BG-Clairton collision course.  You nailed it Crimson.  Now, without both Chadbourne and Wade the game loses some luster.  It would have been a fantastic rematch of the '14 title game.  The difference betweene the two teams:  BG has proven what they're capable of without their star.  Do the Bears hav...

Re: Lamont Wade torn meniscus

It's disappointing that two of the state's top players either won't play or will likely not be in top form if (when?) BG and Clairton meet. That would absolutely be the game to see if both players were at full-strength.
Here's hoping that neither Chadbourn nor Wade return too soon and risk injury.

Re: BG vs Johnstown , thoughts, who to watch, keys to win?

BG's size and execution up front will be too much. Irwin will average 5 yards a pop. Bottom line: BG's sustained drives will win the game. Johnstown will score on a couple of big plays, but BG has been showing the same big plays all year, albeit against lesser teams.

Re: Private School Problem -Not just this forum!

If you're suggesting that teams refuse to play BG this year, I can understand your rationale, especially given the upcoming game with Bishop Carroll (which, by the way, is another private school).  But consider the long-term consequences.  BG won't be a juggernaut forever.  They are currently riding...
