Re: WestPac Midpoint
Always a couple games that don't go the way the majority are thinking. Alot of football left though, time will tell how it all unfolds.

Re: Windber vs. Portage
If one of these teams could throw the ball for a game....they would easily control the outcome. This is going to be a back and forth ground and pound, mano a mano, slugfest. Back to the days of classic games. Wing-T vs Single Wing. I think Portage is too much. 42-24 Do agree with you about the grou...

Re: Gouse - 200 wins
He didn't coach the game, pretty sure he did coach the team at practices prior.kmr wrote:In 2014 it was a very competitive game against BG. Postage played a great game, Kephart did all he could but one thing about that game Gouse did not coach in it. He was kicked out the week before and wasn't allowed.

Re: Gouse - 200 wins
Gouse is no doubt someone who should be celebrated for his accomplishments. He made Portage a football town, and no doubt had an impact on many young men's lives regardless of the 200 wins. Grand scheme though, mediocre opponents and couldn't win when the competition got better. Not really a kno...

Re: BG Vulnerable?
You can bet BG coach's gave the the team a good "gut check" at this week's practices..but I'm smelling upset. Thinking Bishop McCort backs will give BG defense all they can handle. Game will come down to BM defense holding a few times...

Re: Westpac Week 2
Last year the Meyersdale/Portage game was a defensive tussle in a pourdown. I would expect the same kind of matchup. The other game that is interesting is the Conemaugh Township/North Star game. Not sure of CT passing defense..think Portage only threw one ball more than 10 yards, and a handful of sh...

Re: Westpac Week 1
First off, want to commend you for writing up a column on the Westpac!! Some teams will finish a much stronger team than they had at the beginning of the year..and some will tail off. The first couple weeks will tell us alot about the teams. Who got what..and so forth. I'm just glad FOOTBALL season ...

Re: Westpac Week 1
Most conferences are historically dominated by a couple schools with others here and there. I'd like to see Windber and North Star get back to their former glory. It's a breath of fresh air seeing what this Ferndale team is doing. With the school sizes shrinking, not sure how all of these schools w...

Re: Westpac Week 1
I'm thinking the Portage/Conemaugh Twp. and the Berlin/Meyersdale games will be closer games than stated. The West Pac this year will be a better conference top to bottom than the last few years.
