Re: Penna Jr. new JHS head coach
Again, he should have gone into something other than education. At the least he should know that his profession is dictated by personal preferences in the hiring process, and there is no use complaining about it.

Give the kid credit for being accepted to Lehigh. He earned it with his academic performance, and not because of the advanced mathematical prowess of McCort's math teachers. Kids from across our region frequently get accepted at Lehigh and other prestigious schools because they are intelligent and s...

Re: Penna Jr. new JHS head coach
Moral of the story is your friend should have gotten into a field other than teaching, or should be looking for a job at a district that doesn't approve of nepotism.

All consolidation will do is to eliminate two 100K jobs at each district - superintendent and business manager. Funds will be dispersed by one county school administrator. Just doing that will save the state $40 million per year.

Re: Penna Jr. new JHS head coach
It does take a special person to work there. One who has thick skin and is able to endure the constant badgering of micromanaging school board members. For as big as Johnstwon thinks it is, it is more small town than most single A schools.

Re: Mirror Article: WPAC teams ask to leave d6

Re: Mirror Article: WPAC teams ask to leave d6
You can posture all you want, but the bottom line is that these schools aren't happy with the situation the way it currently exists. And neither are many other schools as well. District 6 should be concerned if so many schools want to leave. I can bet that this isn't over by a long shot. Knowitall, ...

Its a good idea. District 5 could use more teams. District 6 is one of the biggest in the state. Its not going to hurt them at all. Well, maybe their pride. Just wait until the other schools start to ask as well. For many of the Johnstown schools, Somerset is a lot closer than Altoona.
