it just came to me...in your era they either weren't bright enough to get the lead runner out, instead choosing to always get the batter....or they would attempt it and fail...

oh, I certainly do hear announcers say they reached first on a fielder's choice...you need to listen more and talk less... yes, runners move up on the throw....how do you mark it in your scorebook? I don't necesssarily mark FC, but I indicate that they moved on the throw... yes, there are such thing...

And, for full disclosure, I actually found a site that scorekeeps using FO as an option, not FC.....I've never seen a scorer do it that way before....I'm thinking El-Moldo was responsible for the site I googled.....

Heard PO pulled the hidden-ball trick and it worked.....heard Central assistant got tossed (have a pretty good guess which one)... I don't think a solid defensive game will always result in a perfect game....I'm thinking most, if not all, perfect games are accompanied by a strong defensive effort....they are two separate things...
