Re: Season opening tournaments
The Cardinal Classic Tip off Tournament at Dubois Central Catholic ought to have a nice final. The teams are: Dubois Central Catholic, St. Joseph's, Johnsonburg (state finalist last year) and North Catholic. All are single-A with two from D9, one from D6 and one from D7. Johnsonburg and North Cathol...

Re: The New PIAA Numbers
Ya want to see a number to shake your head at, look at St Joes. 15 boys in 9-11 grade and they won 4 games in first year of football against a pretty tough A schedule, and have a wrestling team too( there's 14 weights).... Anyone smell fish? I talked to some folks around town. The numbers you are q...

Transportation wouldn't be much of an issue. There were six cars waiting for the Valley School of Ligonier bus at its Westmont pickup spot this AM. The Valley bus was running a good twenty minutes late. If you're willing to send your elementary aged geek up and down Ligonier mountain in the winter ...

Taxes are low in the CV district because in part, it is a low income district and receives disproportionate funding from the state. Westmont, Richland and Mt. Lebanon tax dollars are supplementing CV tax dollars. A few years ago Westmont and CV officials were both quoted by the local rag as looking...

Re: Heritage Conference love!
Agreed up north that's why people say a 6 system. Expand bottom and top I'm not opposed to a 6 system for football only, but everyone has to realize the additional costs involved in implementing this change. The end result would be more games (for the most expensive high school sport except for hoc...

Re: Heritage Conference love!
A lot of the smaller schools end up playing schools who have double the class size. When a school has 80 more males eligible than a school who only has 80 eligible males it makes a huge different in talent size. But you can make that same argument at almost every level in football. It is simply the...

Ferndale should not exist. Conamaugh Valley should not exist. Shanksville should not exist. The list goes on and on and on................money pits that could be easily combined with nearby districts but for opposition from union and small minded people who continue to await the re-opening of the ...

Here's hoping for a "Heinz Hangover", which isn't out of the question considering this is the first WPIAL championship for NC.
I know the odds are practically 0%, but how awesome would a TM vs. HC state final be?

They did this last year with the Bellwood-Antis/Dunmore game which was moved to Central Mountain HS Field and in 2004 with Tyrone/Grove City game being moved to State College HS Field. Even though both those were D6 sites, I think they should have played at Mansion Park still, since that's the D6 C...
