Re: Public vs. Private?
According to the enrollment report WCCS radio referenced on air last, BG has students from eight different school districts. I'm not sure if they have football players from each of those districts or not. I'm from Bellwood originally, but live in Bedford now, and I REGULARLY see ''school student''...

Re: Public vs. Private?
Where are the best high school football players from Altoona playing right now? They sure aren't playing for AAHS. Has anyone else wondered how Altoona and Hollidaysburg's move to the WPIAL 8 years ago affected BG's recent success? Do you think it's a coincidence that a huge talent swell started to...

Re: Public vs. Private?
theres no way for us to know how many school districts BG has athletes from, but I guarantee you it's more than just Altoona. It's really a mathematical thing. A private school like BG can get kids from a massive population base while a small public school can't.

Re: Public vs. Private?
I’ve said for years that this could be remedied simply by following the vo-tech/CTC model! The kids would participate in their home district for extra-curricular activities! Go to a private school for education purposes, which is the reason kids are there anyway! So if you can't compete eliminat...

Re: Public vs. Private?
Separate playoffs. If the PIAA insists on allowing a school like BG to build a roster of the best athletes and biggest linemen from the Altoona REGION, for example, then they're not going to continue to be put in the playoffs with Williamsburg and Claysburg. Separate rules of existence cannot mean s...

Re: New PIAA Classification Ranges Posted
So it isn't just the private single A schools that could play with bigger schools. No, but the public schools are getting their players within their district. The privates have no limits. There's no sides here. It's That's bull, look around...Homer Center is an example last year their QB was a U...

Re: New PIAA Classification Ranges Posted
So are you saying that StJoes and BC are a display of this great advantage? Well, St. Joseph's hasn't had time to build a program and community investment in the State College area, and Bishop Carroll has, in the past, won against the much bigger schools in the LHAC. BC has had D6 dynasties, they'v...

Re: New PIAA Classification Ranges Posted
In 2012, Bellwood beat Tyrone, a close one, and kept winning until they lost they're regular season finale to a good Richland team. Then they ended up smoking BM in the D6 class A title game 54-3. They made it to the Eastern final where they lost to Dunmore. Hands-down one of Bellwood's best teams e...

Re: McCort wrestling/athletic program gets probation.
The real issue is the unfair advantage that private schools have, whether kids are recruited or go on their own free will. Can someone give me a good reason why the PIAA doesn't see this inequity, or doesn't care? And why do the privates so badly want to stay in the PIAA? Is there some monetary rew...
