Re: Girls in WPIAL
The girl that played against Johnstown was a member of the Ballou (DC) team that the Trojans played during their 6-AAAA independent season of '89 when they opted to not play in the WPIAL.

Re: PIAA playoff game in Ohio?
I don't get the point of making two schools in basically suburban Youngstown go play at the Pete or Duquesne in downtown Pittsburgh, I think it's fair to pick a venue that caters to the two teams. It's on you have two border schools like this, and playing in Youngstown makes the most sense. Hands d...

Re: State Finals
When I saw all Philly AAA and AAAA finals, my first thought was
To think I was advocating the Philly schools to get into the PIAA back in the day because I was enamoured by the Simon Gratz and Roman Catholic teams that used to come to the War Memorial Invitational.
So naive.

Re: AAA Boys Playoffs Open Thread.
There has long been chatter about Indiana joining the LHAC and at least for football I think another AAA squad would be welcomed. However, I'm just not sure what's really in it for them if they would move. If you look at who they play in football and basketball I don't see any great travel advantage...

Re: A Boys Playoff Open Thread
Not selling them short, I hope they do well. I'm just saying when I look beyond the records and the schedules, it's that VA has played a much tougher schedule. Looking at SF's record I have no reason to believe they couldn't have replicated it if not be undfeated based on some of those teams. It's l...

Re: A Boys Playoff Open Thread
I'll take: Shanksville Portage (in a close one) Cameron County BC Vincentian (if there is a chance for an Upset SF may be it) Western Finals - Kennedy v. Farrell Eastern Finals - MSC v. Constitution State finals - Farrell v. Constitution Champ - Constitution Vincentian's an excellent program, both ...

Re: AA Boys Playoff Open Thread.
Central Cambria with a dang tough draw the Quips basically at a home game in Ambridge.
And I wouldn't be 100% shocked at all if Lincoln Park fights their way through their pod of the bracket and meets up with the Quips in the western final.

Re: District 6 Boys AAA Championship Somerset vs Hollidaysbu
Yeah, that's what's killer about the WPIAL playoffs is you'll get some big upset that in turn upset the apple cart when it comes to seeding in the PIAA brackets. Completely looked past Mars, but I did double take when I saw Lincoln Park when I pulled the brackets up this morning! I have to say, I've...
