District Six A Rankings Week Six

Post by Crimson's Ghost »

1. Bishop Guilfoyle 5-0 Defeated Penn Cambria 54-0 Next up: Forest Hills Previous: #1

Bishop Guilfoyle is up to a 21 game winning streak. The Marauders are outscoring teams 215-21 this season, and they look very impressive after some expected a step backwards. Perhaps they can see a test this week with 3-2 Forest Hills coming to Mansion Park.

2. Penns Manor 5-0 Defeated United 54-0 Next up: Marion Center Previous: #2

Penns Manor has only allowed one touchdown all season long. Just plain dominant. The Comets will look to move to 6-0 with Marion Center visiting Clymer on Friday.

3. Moshannon Valley 5-0 Defeated Juniata Valley 33-13 Next up: @ Clasburg-Kimmel Previous: #3

As always, it was the Eric Sherkel show again. 100+ yards rushing, an interception on defense, and a 93 yard kickoff return. We'll get to see what he can do this week with a trip to Claysburg-Kimmel.

4. Portage 4-1 Defeated Shade 41-14 Next up: @ Ferndale Previous: #4

Portage bounced back no problem after the loss to Berlin. The Mustangs should be able to cruise by Ferndale on Saturday.

5. Bellwood-Antis 3-2 Defeated Mt. Union 35-16 Next up: @ Everett Previous: #5

Switching Jake Burch from quarterback to an athlete has really opened up the offense, and has made Bellwood a better team. They should be able to take down Everett to move to 4-2.

6. Northern Cambria 3-2 Defeated Blairsville 22-13 Next up: @ Purchase Line Previous: #6

Northern Cambria has bounced back after starting the year with two losses to the two best teams in the league. They will look to make it four straight wins with a trip to Purchase Line on Friday.

7. Cambria Heights 3-2 Defeated Forest Hills 28-16 Next up: @ Central Cambria Previous: #9

Cambria Heights is rolling right now. After an 0-2 start, the Highlanders have reeled off three straight victories. Cambria Heights knocked off Forest Hills last week, and it marked just the third time in school history they beat the Rangers.

8. Westmont 3-2 Lost to Bedford Next up: @ Somerset Previous: #7

Westmont is an improved team from last year, but they did take a setback against a good Bedford team. They have another tough test against Somerset on Friday.

9. Homer Center 3-2 Defeated Purchase Line Next up: Blairsville Previous: #10

Homer Center is starting to find a bit of a rhythm, and is making a case to be that third team in the Heritage. They must take care of business this week against a 1-4 Blairsville team.

10. Purchase Line 3-2 Lost to Homer Center 37-12 Next up: Northern Cambria Previous: #8

Purchase Line could not hang with Homer Center last week, and dropped to 3-2. They have another difficult test with Northern Cambria visiting Friday night.

11. Claysburg-Kimmel 3-2 Defeated Glendale 28-6 Next up: Moshannon Valley Previous: #11

Claysburg-Kimmel stands pat at #11 this week. The Bulldogs snapped a two game losing streak with a sound victory over Glendale. Tough game on Friday with Moshannon Valley coming to town.

12. Conemaugh Valley 3-2 Defeated Meyersdale 12-6 Next up: @ Blacklick Valley Previous: #13

Big time win for Conemaugh Valley last week going into Meyersdale and gutting out a 12-6 win. The Jays have a workhorse back in Brandon Galasso, who already has 1,000 yards on the season, and perhaps he can carry them into postseason consideration.

13. West Branch 3-2 Defeated Everett 17-14 Next up: @ Southern Huntingdon Previous: #14

West Branch has already exceeded last year's win total, and they have to have some playoff aspirations on their minds. Still, the schedule really picks up for the Warriors in the second half, and we will see what they are made out of this season. It all starts with a big road game at 4-1 Southern Huntingdon.

14. Blacklick Valley 2-3 Lost to Conemaugh Township 46-6 Next up: Conemaugh Valley Previous: #12

Blacklick Valley slips up in the rankings with a blowout loss to Conemaugh Township. The Vikings host 3-2 Coneamugh Valley in a rivalry game on Friday.

15. Williamsburg 2-3 Defeated Tussey Mountain 27-12 Next up: @ Juniata Valley Previous: #17

Williamsburg slides up with a win last week, and could turn it into a streak with a game against Juniata Valley this week.

16. Bishop McCort 1-4 Lost to Richland 30-27 Next up: @ Bedford Previous: #15

Bishop McCort let two close games get away at home in consecutive weeks, and now must travel to 5-0 Bedford.

17. Blairsville 1-4 Lost to Northern Cambria 22-13 Next up: @ Homer Center Previous: #16

The Bobcats hung with Northern Cambria last week, but ultimately came up short. They are a far cry from the 12-1 team they were last season. Big road game with Homer this Friday.

18. Juniata Valley 1-4 Lost to Moshannon Valley 33-13 Next up: Williamsburg Previous: #18

Juniata Valley has hung tough in recent weeks after a disastrous start with two blowout losses. Williamsburg at home appears to be a winnable game, and competitive at the very least.

19. Saltsburg 1-4 Forfeited to Westinghouse Next up: @ United Previous: #19

Saltsburg had to forfeit last week due to not enough players, we'll see if they can field a team this week at United.

20. Marion Center 1-4 Lost to Ligonier 34-18 Next up: @ Penns Manor Previous: #20

Marion Center held their ground against one of the top teams in the Heritage last week in Ligonier, but we'll see if they can hang with undefeated Penns Manor this week.

21. United 1-4 Lost to Penns Manor 54-0 Next up: Saltsburg Previous: #21

United proved to be no match for Penns Manor last week. They will look to get their second win against Saltsburg this week, possibly by a forfeit.

22. Bishop Carroll 0-5 Lost to Central Cambria 34-0 Next up: Penn Cambria Previous: #24

Not only is Bishop Carroll searching for their first win of the year, they are searching for their first points as well.

23. Glendale 0-5 Lost to Claysburg-Kimmel 28-6 Next up: Tussey Mountain Previous: #23

Glendale has a chance to get into the win column with 0-5 Tussey Mountain visiting this week. Something's gottagive on Friday night between these two teams.

24. Ferndale 0-5 Lost to North Star 27-6 Lost to North Star 27-6 Next up: Portage Previous: #24

Ferndale hung in there early, but could not beat North Star. The Yellow Jackets have a tough game with #4 Portage visiting "The Hive" on Saturday afternoon.

25. St. Joseph's Academy 0-5 Lost to Upper Dauphin 14-8 Next up: Carson Long Institute Previous: #25

Saint Joe's nearly picked up their first win last week, but ultimately came up short to Upper Dauphin by 6 points. They play Carson Long this week. Carson Long is a military school from District 3, and it appears they have only played one game to date.

Honestly can anyone beat Guilfoyle in the Distrct Playoffs? I mean I understand that Mo Valley has Sherkel and Portage has Dividock but can anyone match up with these guys and beat them? Their line has to be the biggest and strongest in District 6 A In a long time.
LT: Logan McGeary 6'2 320 255x4 on the bench
LG: Dakota Leamer 6'0 221 245x9 on the bench
C: Daniel Ramsey 6'3 308 185x12 on the bench
RG: Zach Coyler 5'11 263 275x5 on the bench
RT: Nick Leamer 6'1 311 255x5 on the bench

And to add that all with Chadbourn and Yasulitis this team will walk through the playoffs

My bet is portage or PM. Mo valley is a good story but a lot of people reported penns manor having their way with them in the scrimmage.

Dont forget only 1 starter left the comets from last year. Teams that keep a core like that usually do great things.

Guilfoyle is really good, not sure who can play with them, but there are three candidates out there that have a chance. We'll see what Cambria Hrights can do against them, because they have lineman and big, physical backs.

My money is on Penns Manor being the only team in D6 able to hang with and possibly beat BG. Either of those two versus Camp Hill in the first round of the state playoffs will be a whale of a game.

Ive believe they are big. They are also very deep team. Over 40 to 50 kids on their starting roster. They dont rely on 15 players playing.

Knowing what kids can bench press is a new one to remember off the top of your head.
