Hunting traditions

I go with my dad on the first day every year and we sit together in a stand. I miss going out in the woods though. I'm not the guy that is huge into hunting but I enjoy going in the first day. I think I'd be more into it if there was a family/buddy cabin etc. I have a buddy who has cabin nights about once every 6 weeks and I think that helps younger guys get interested and it creates family time. Anyone on here have any traditions?

I never hunted a day in my life, and neither did 3 good friends I had in HS. It's a great sport, but just never did it.

However, the 4 of us always had fun in buck season. Each year for about 5-6 years, one of us would "prank" call in a deer kill to the local rag....One year, one of my friends had an uncle who got a buck, and the uncle a from out of state. His uncle let my buddy get his pic taken with his deer and we sent it into the paper..."John Smith, 6 point, 145lbs field dressed, Cresson Mountain." People would come up to us and congratulate us at school... Hilarious!

How many kids will call off in The Cove tomorrow due to "Buck fever"????
