WESTPAC WEEK 2
Went 6-0 last week. There are two games this week in the WestPac that are worth going to see. There shouldn't be as many blowouts this week.
Friday Games:
Meyersdale @ Portage
Meyersdale got tore up in week 1 against Conemaugh Twp. Meanwhile, Portage had a shutout against Shade. Portage QB Jake Bryja had a good day throwing the ball for 178 yds and 3 tds. I actually thought Meyersdale was going to put up a game with CT with 14 starters back but it looks like they are still struggling mightily on defense. Portage should get their 2nd win of the season, while Meyersdale drops to 0-2.
Portage 35
Meyersdale 7
Rockwood @ Conemaugh Twp.
Conemaugh Twp. comes off a dominating win over Meyersdale. Brett Byers did everything for the Indians rushing for over 200 yds and had 13 tackles on defense. Rockwood is coming off a blowout loss to Windber and is facing another top team in the WestPac. This game is going to be a blowout.
CT 55
Rockwood 6
Blacklick Valley @ Windber
The Vikings are coming off a win over Bishop Walsh. QB Victor Manda is the do-it-all player for Blacklick. He had an impressive day on both sides of the ball in their 44-20 win. Windber comes off a dominating win over Rockwood. This game is going to come down to whose defense can play better. I think Windber is going to limit Manda and pull out the victory at home in a good game.
Windber 27
Blacklick 13
Game of the Week:
North Star @ Chestnut Ridge
Both teams had a field day over their opponents in week 1. The Cougars have an experienced line and a good passing game. It is hard to judge how good they are when they played Con. Valley. Meanwhile, the Lions have a good dual QB, a hard nosed RB, and a very good Center. I know what Ridge has, but I still have concerns with North Star's running game with the loss of Josh Kuncher. I just gotta go with the Lions at home in an entertaining game.
CR 34
North Star 21
Saturday Games:
Berlin @ Conemaugh Valley
The Mountaineer's come off a completely dominating win over Ferndale. They scored 41 points in just 20 minutes of game time. Also, their defense only allowed one first down. The Bluejays are coming off a shutout loss to North Star. You gotta feel bad for these guys. Another blowout loss is coming their way.
Berlin 55
CV 0
Shade @ Ferndale
Both teams are coming off big losses in week 1. These teams don't have much of a chance at getting wins this year so I'm sure this will be an hard fought game. It will be a close game, but I am taking the Panthers.

Re: WESTPAC WEEK 2
I will second those predictions (with a few differences).
Games that will be more lopsided:
CR over NS. These lions are going to bust up the Westpac this year.
Shade over Ferndale. I felt bad for the Yellowjackets last week. The Mountaineers brought a very sloppy game to the field and were still able to do pretty much whatever they wanted to with the ball.
Games that will be closer:
Windber over Blacklick. The Ramblers can take a smack in the mouth and rebound better than any team in the conference, but I don't think their confident style is going to carry them this year.
Will Portage make the D6 playoffs this year?

It's better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you're stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

Re: WESTPAC WEEK 2
i agree strongly with all your predictions...but i can say one thing that portage definatly isnt the team they use to be especially when the leading rusher only had around 60 yards rushing and shade was shutting down the jet sweep for the most part...on the other hand i too feel shade will win the game but with a bigger margin

I don't get how Berlin was that sloppy. It was the 1st week too. What are you talking about besides the dropped passes?BisonLine74 wrote:I will second those predictions (with a few differences).

Re: WESTPAC WEEK 2
I agree with bbsocceralumni that the Chestnut Ridge vs. North Star is the game of the week............i truthfully dont know what to expect though from the Cougars... a 49-0 win over conemaugh valley really means nothing...and Ridge has the option game down pretty well... should be interesting, a lot of good athletes in this game..Im going to go with the "underdog" in this game and take North Star 35-28. The Strasiser brothers will dominate like they did the first week. I could be wrong on this predicton, hard to say.

Re: WESTPAC WEEK 2
I felt the same way towards North Star. Any concerns that I have for a team heading into a game I usually pick against them. Back to back weeks North Star has a big game. Next week @ Berlin.Sportsfan22 wrote:I agree with bbsocceralumni that the Chestnut Ridge vs. Do you have anything to back up this prediction?bigman79 wrote:im predicting meyersdale will beat portage 79-0
And I also highly doubt that there will be 157 combined points scored in the Shade Ferndale game, come on now, atleast try and be realistic
