I believe Penns Manor is in the bottom 3rd economically. I do know we are the highest tax mil in Indiana County. Teachers are the highest paid in Indiana County and test scores are in BOTTOM 10 percent, statewide.

but look at some of the smaller schools around having some nice seasons and some decent playoff runs in recent years: Juniata Valley, Northern Bedford, Penns Manor, Tussey Mountain, Clasyburg-Kimmel, Homer Center, Williamsburg, etc.

Is BG a purposeful omission or did the Marauders not come to mind?

I am talking about small town schools, not small schools with a multi-district area...

The districts that BG draws from are Altoona and Hollidaysburg, the same two districts that the team has been pulling from for the past 50 years.  The fact that a traditionally mediocre program has gone over-the-top in the past 5 years helps to make your case that coaching can be the major factor.

.....and to use BG to further make your case: assuming that there are 300 students at BG, and the team roster is 50 (plus or minus), that means that fully 1/3 of the boys in the school are playing football. That's what I call buy-in, and as you say, that starts with the coach.

Glendale isn't all that competitive in all other sports, so it's not like they have athletes that just aren't going out for football , they just don't have athletes period.

I was actually told that by someone from Everett who would probably know with an absolute certainty
