Re: Glendale head football coach
I believe Penns Manor is in the bottom 3rd economically. I do know we are the highest tax mil in Indiana County. Teachers are the highest paid in Indiana County and test scores are in BOTTOM 10 percent, statewide.
You're only young once, but you can be immature forever!!!
Re: Glendale head football coach
The districts that BG draws from are Altoona and Hollidaysburg, the same two districts that the team has been pulling from for the past 50 years. The fact that a traditionally mediocre program has gone over-the-top in the past 5 years helps to make your case that coaching can be the major factor.QuoteTheRaven wrote:I am talking about small town schools, not small schools with a multi-district area...Steve92 wrote:Small schools.....nice seasons.....decent playoff runs in recent years.....QuoteTheRaven wrote: but look at some of the smaller schools around having some nice seasons and some decent playoff runs in recent years: Juniata Valley, Northern Bedford, Penns Manor, Tussey Mountain, Clasyburg-Kimmel, Homer Center, Williamsburg, etc.
Is BG a purposeful omission or did the Marauders not come to mind?
Re: Glendale head football coach
.....and to use BG to further make your case: assuming that there are 300 students at BG, and the team roster is 50 (plus or minus), that means that fully 1/3 of the boys in the school are playing football. That's what I call buy-in, and as you say, that starts with the coach.
Re: Glendale head football coach
Glendale isn't all that competitive in all other sports, so it's not like they have athletes that just aren't going out for football , they just don't have athletes period.
Re: Glendale head football coach
I think they do have some studs in wrestling coming up soon...I was going to throw some names out there but that sometimes backfires on this site,,,I'm not from there so I don't want to jinx them or have anyone called out unfairly...

They had a decent run on the basketball court recently.
Re: Glendale head football coach
What is a decent run? Looks like last season was underwhelming. 0-14, gave up 100 in a game.dadw/2sons wrote:They had a decent run on the basketball court recently.
