Johnstown leaving the LHAC
With them now being the only 4a team in the LHAC would it be a smart move for them to maybe get out of the conference and get into a bigger one? I can’t see how playing mostly 2a schools will benifit them in the long run. Somerset is going down to 3a and FH is down to 2a while McCort is eligible to play 1a

Define “benefit them”
Where do you propose they go? How would that “benefit them”?

They could go to mountain league. At least they would be playing some bigger teams and wouldn’t lose as many points for playoff seeding.

You know whats a benefit? Playing teams close to you that have historical value and not spending more money to travel.
Re: Johnstown leaving the LHAC
Playoff seeding? Big deal! Johnstown will have as good a chance as any to win 6/9 AAAA no matter what conference it plays in
Re: Johnstown leaving the LHAC
I would be shocked if any team in the LHAC was looking for other options

Also the 2 best teams this year in d6 were from the LHAC, in my opinion. Plus its not like Jtown are going 10-0 in their conference!
Re: Johnstown leaving the LHAC
Johnstown was in Wpial up until 2002ish. That was a disaster. They had to try hard to convince Lhac schools to let them in- historical value wasn’t important then- only team they really had any history with prior to that was Johnstown Catholic/ McCort. They didn’t play those other teams in football/basketball.
Fact is with only two games to win for a district championship, jockeying for extra seeding points is hardly worth the cost of additional travel.

With just 6 teams in 4A and 4 of those making playoffs, points typically don't matter a ton, a winning record probably gets you in every year

Re: Johnstown leaving the LHAC
But does it really prepare them for winning it and in the states? I’d have to say no way in hell does it help them play other 4a schools
