Guss' stats and performances speak for themselves, but the writers must not have use that Aliquippa game 0-for-14 stat line in the pick, lol.
It ain't over until it's over.

Thought Eric Elgin would have made it over Jared Smith. Better numbers , by 40 tackles.

Congrats to ALL 250 Pennsylvania 2017 high school all-state football players. Anyone remember when there was a Big School all-state team and a Small School all-state team? Both teams had 11 offensive players, 11 defensive players, a specialist, a punter and a kicker. Those 50 players covered the whole state. Now it takes 5 times as many selections to cover the state. Are our players just getting better? Or, like T-ball, everybody gets a trophy.

Everyone just gets a trophy. When I played 11 years ago now there was just 1st team and 2nd team. With the specialists.

Could you two negative Nellie's give us some examples of players that were not deserving of being named all state?  Should only teams that win 14 games get picks, or should it just be stats?  3 players from the entire conference Heritage were honored.  What criteria should be used so that everyone doesn't get a trophy, there was a receiver from CC who had a 1000 yds receiving , he was not picked.

Enzo it’s time for you to get off your high horse. You act like the heritage is the best thing ever since sliced bread. There are a lot more schools in PA then just those in the heritage. I’m willing to bet the only reason the kid from HC got put on the list is his team did make it to the finals. It would be pretty bad looking if the runner ups didn’t have 1 all state player on the team. It was a bigger accomplishment back then to what it’s compared to now. You might have had a handful of kids from all of D6 getting all state now you have multiple kids in each conference getting them.

GoldenRamsFAN is right. There used to be 4 classes with 1st and 2nd teams. In those days, there were 8 quarterbacks (2 x 4) who made all-state. This year there were 30 (5 x 6).

Quips also had by far the best defense in the state
