Re: Early Signing Day
Again, if one kid locally picked St. Francis and another one picked Cal or IUP or Slippery Rock, it was likely more about fit and comfort. The kids going to St. Francis aren't necessarily better. The best players around here likely had the option between both. They recruit against each other in a lot of cases.
St. Francis has really elevated its program in the past five years, but there's still a difference between them and Youngstown State. The gap between the PSAC and NEC is smaller than the gap between the NEC and the North Dakota State's and James Madison's of the world.
And part of it is the "transfer down" effect. Cal and IUP end up with a lot of Division One players that didn't work out at their respective schools.

St Francis has improved by leaps and bounds. They are much better than PSAC schools now. You could not say that 5 years ago.

Saint Francis athletics as a whole has really improved. It was an eyesore all around 5 years ago.
Re: Early Signing Day
Youngstown State is Oklahoma or Clemson. The NEC is the MAC. St. Francis is Buffalo. IUP is Youngstown State.
Re: Early Signing Day
For what it's worth: From Sagarin's final 2018 college football rankings. There are 254 FBS and FCS college football teams. St. Francis was ranked 203rd this year. There were 70 FCS teams ranked ahead of them. ND State was ranked 31st, and JMU was ranked 44th, BOTH ranked higher than many FBS teams. Of the 33 athletic conferences ranked, the NEC was ranked 28th.

Re: Early Signing Day
He's going to Lackawanna, not IUP. So did IUP get a local transfer that wasn't Smith? Because then that would make everyone wrong.CoffinCorner wrote:Funny came from Steve Franco on recruiting visit for several players and families, talking about how I UP was getting local kid transferring from WVU. Re: Early Signing Day
In 1999 IUP lost to Younstown st. 13-7 and I believe ysu won the D1AA national championship that year.
Why do the Mike Jemisons and Tyree Youngs and Lenny William's(temple/sto rox) not go to St. Francis? Are they not permitted to go FCS? Walt Harris gave IUP about 4 nfl players.not all made it but several in camps
