Separate Playoffs

Post by ICCfanatic »

The Altoona Mirror released an article about next weeks meeting regarding having separate playoffs.  Just wondering what everyone thinks the outcome will be??

As long as the PIAA says that the roughly 150,000- resident Altoona metro area can supply the players for a single A private school team and all they have to do is commute, but if Williamsburg wants to bring a kid in from Martinsburg, the family will have to literally move, there needs to be separate playoffs. Make the boundary rules equal or make separate playoffs. To say you’re just as likely to field a powerhouse team from the population of Williamsburg as the population of the entire Altoona metro area is asinine.

I agree with this.   It would stop all the Catholic school hate as well.

I have a legitimate question, I do not know the answer. If I live in Hollidaysburg and pay the tuition for my child to attend BG, D6 has no questions. If I live in Hollidaysburg and pay tuition to Altoona, does D6 get to have a say in my child's athletic involvement?

If you are a sophomore and go to Altoona as a junior - yeah there will be questions.

Well, I see that as a different standard. That s how I view it. If there is no question for one, there should be no questions for either. Regardless of the reason for transfer, why treat the schools difrerently?

I agree, I think there's more public-to-public transfers for athletic reasons that happen then we realize, but people only politicize private schools. I think there should be equal outrage all around.

Terry Smith, the assistant coach for Penn State and former Head Coach of Gateway High School didn't learn to recruit once he started coaching college football - let's just say that.

No matter what you do, this will still take place (example JV), but the competition would definitely better. I would figure less lopsided outcomes with much better games.
