Collin Smith appears to have transferred from West Virginia to Lackawanna CC. Looks like he will be playing QB now as opposed to DB at WVU.

Lackawanna puts a ton of kids to D1 school, I think Smith will have a chance to be re-recruited in the JC ranks as a QB.

Idk maybe? I hope education is the top priority. All this transfering around makes it very hard to actually finish a degree while on scholarships.

My best friend went to three colleges before graduating - sometimes it takes a while to figure it out. That includes athletes.

I agree with that 100%. Nothing is wrong with transferring I just hope education is still the more important than the athletics.

Does Lackawanna CC give out athletic scholarships? Did Smith give his up when he left WVU?

Yeah once you are off the team, the scholarship is gone. You don’t get to take it with you.

And high level Junior College is usually taken care of financially. Lackawanna has produced some really good players of late. It’s a football hotbed.

I will clear up any confusion about Collin. Yes, he has transferred to Lackawanna CC to play QB. It was a very difficult decision for him...he was just not happy continuing to play the Safety position. He has already been contacted from FBS schools for the QB role. Lackawanna's coaches told Collin that they will focus on his footwork to improve his technique, they said his throwing technique is where it currently needs to be. (BTW - to clear up the other rumor - Collin was not the recruit transferring to IUP...Must of been another WVU transfer).

As far as his Education...this is definitely Collin's first priority. He completed his Freshman year with a very good GPA for being a Student Athlete - Overall GPA 3.5. His focus will continue to be his education first.

I think this is only the first time he has transferred? Hopefully everything works out for the young man.

It is. There was a rumor on here that he was transferring to IUP around February and that proved to be inaccurate.
