Saltsburg forfeit

Post by NeverQuit »

Word from Liggy is that saltsburg has forfeited the game this week. Anyone know the reasoning behind it? There has been talk of them forfeiting to Liggy since before the start of the season.

Roster only has 19 listed. Did they get hit with some injuries?

That’s the only reasonable explanation. Can’t imagine enough have gotten hurt to warrant a forfeit already?

So next year Saltsburg joins with Blairsville.
They invite BC to join conference to have enough teams
Change conference name from Heritage to Appalachian
Sounds about right

They suffered many serious injuries in this game last year. They know they are overmatched, and for the sake of the kids, have decided not to play.

I know it's about community pride. But if you're going to forfeit a game, either due to numbers or you feel you have no chance. Is it time not to have a team ?

I just think this is unfair to the players of both teams, especially the seniors who just had their season cut down by a game. What a terrible message for the Saltsburg coaching staff to send to their players. I hope this isn’t a political statement to try and get AA teams out of the heritage, but that’s the rumor I’ve been hearing since I first caught wind that they might do this prior to the season.

Mapletown played Avella in Week One in the WPIAL, forfeited its second game against Clairton and played Jefferson-Morgan in week three.  The PIAA really does need to put a minimum on how many real players need to be dressed and ready to play each week.

How do the class numbers project for Ligonier? They were close to being AAA in this current cycle. Could they jump in two years?  How would the rest of the league handle that?

Large junior class, then it falls off.  The team only has 4 sophomores on the roster.  Close to AAA this cycle, but will fall back and likely stay in AA for a long time to come.
