Running Backs

Post by youngbuck »

The current game has gone to a smaller Style scatback, who are some of the current and former power backs that stick out in your mind. Guys who just like to run people over and refuse to be tackled.  Jordan Wilson who is presently at Sharon is a clone of Jerome Bettis

I have to go with August Cook, though he could do more than run you over. He was fun to watch. Zach Wiggins from Portage last year, 5' 8" 220 lbs. Cory Myers of CT this year. Jeremy Faidley, Meyersdale '06.

Johnny Rizzo a few years ago was a beast for Richland.  He was definitely in the mold of a physical back.

Anyone here remember Jerad Peles for Penns Manor. He was the fullback when the PM turn around started. Had a few 1000 yard seasons and looked more like a lineman than a fullback/running back. I still remember being a sophmore when he ran for 300 yards in PMs first ever playoff game against blacklick valley

To go a little old school
Tyrone - Marcus Wyland
Forest Hills - Justin Beyer.  Just refused to use any moves once he got in the secondary, shoulders down and trucked people.

Rod Peters. Juniata Valley early 80s. Don't remember any stats, just remember him looking for people to run over!

How far back do you want to go? This topic comes up about once a year or so. Short memories.

Chad Brindle from Huntingdon in the late 90's , would prefer to run over you but also had great speed. If I recall correctly he ran for around 300 yrds against Hollidaysburg in 98 and then followed that up with a huge game against Perry at Mansion Park. Perry's coach commented that his kids just didn't want to tackle him any more.

Actually just checked . It was 333 at Hollidaysburg in 98.
