Running Clock......for the whole game?

Post by Crimson's Ghost »

According to Chris Harlin of the Tribune-Review....

"North Allegheny coach Art Walker and West Allegheny’s Bob Palko have decided to play this week’s nonconference football game with a running clock from the start. Teams would’ve approach it differently if early in the season rather than Week 8, said NA’s AD Bob Bozzuto."

West A is 6-1 and 5-1 in it's league.  They have one final conference game in week nine against a 2-6 Moon team.  North Allegheny is 8-0 and 7-0 in it's league. They have a big game with Pine-Richland for the conference title next week.

Thoughts?

I'm not exactly sure if this is technically legal.

So are they trying to let the game be decided in a shorter amount of time so there's less football but still a result? Lessening the time of possible injuries?

Seems shady to me. Now teams can change the rules as they seem fit?

I heard that it will be played like a JV game with regular time.  Starters might play couple series.

Yes, that was on the Fan this morning. Makes 10x more sense. You want to get your kids experience, here you go.

It was legal. They have since rescinded the idea. I was going to drive 45 minutes to watch a 48 minute football game haha
