Game of the week?
I'm looking for a good, competitive game to attend Friday evening. Suggestions?

CC at BM is a Thursday night game actually. So if anyone wants to do that on Thursday, find a game Friday, and check out Forest Hills at Westmont on Saturday afternoon. You could have a nice little 3-game weekend.

Why is the CC vs BMc game on a Thursday?

Not enough refs available on Friday, they had the choice to play Thursday or Saturday and the two schools picked Thursday. The decision was made back in August.

Numbers are dropping drastically for refs. I have a buddy who is a ref and he said he has been completely booked for the 2019 season since this September and expects calls soon for 2020. This is getting to be a real problem. He said its getting to where they are starting to consider dropping the lower paying schools or schools farther away because they get so many calls. Can't blame them....why spend 4 1/2 hours on a Friday night for 50-60 dollars when you can do it for $75.00.

Would it really strap schools that much to pay these refs $75-100 a game each? The quality of refs should go up if there's more competition and there would be no issue with shortages
Re: Game of the week?
The biggest issue is...why do it if you'll always be wrong? Always have parents screaming at you. Parents and fans are nuts, their opinions/views from the bleachers hold more value than a ref trying to do his/her best to get calls right. I have the hardest time sitting at games and not yelling at fans to shut up. There's always a few screamers that are the loudest but have the least clue as to why things are the way they are. Every field should have a sign saying the refs are human too. Maybe people would back off and more would join.coachcarter wrote:Numbers are dropping drastically for refs. You left out one big Fri. nt. game, Shade @ Windber. I'm leaning that way.
