Aliquippa changed coaches and offenses this season, and it seems to be working. Instead of the slow-paced rushing game, the Quips opened it up and now they throw making them very difficult to slow down.

Quips boast a talented lineup: MJ Devonshire is a RB/DB, and is one of the top players in PA, he could go to WVU or Pitt it seems. Will Gipson is a 6-3 WR going to Pitt. Solvauhn Moreland is a 300-pound nose tackle going to Ball State. Ahmad Gilbert is looking like he will be a D1 DE in college, Deoveon Crute could get some offers too. Junior linebacker Zuriah Fisher has an offer to play at Syracuse, and is sure to add some more.

They are a single-A school playing 3-A and probably have a dozen D1 players, it's pretty remarkable.

Middletown is 41-3 over the past three years and lost in the state title in each of the past two years, perhaps they could break through this year but it will be a tall-task. Incredible run either way.

It would be nice to see Aliquippa vs. Farrell or Aliquippa vs. Southern Columbia. Think all three teams are going to win easily next weekend. The three big-school games look better on paper.

I agree. Farrell has been held under 40 just once this season and that was by Southern Columbia’s opponent Wilmington, a game Farrell still won by 2 scores.

How weak is AAA in the Eastern half of the state?

When the PIAA went to 6 classes I think most of the perennial powers in AAA in the east got moved up. Which left Middletown which was the best team left. If I'm not mistaken I think they lost to Archbishop Wood a couple years in a row in like the state quarterfinals when it was still 4 classes.

There were zero close games. The Penn Hills score was close on a late score. Would love to see Farrell, SC, and Quippa play each other
