Leaves Clariton early to go to PSU.
Minimal PT as freshman
Gets moved to safety as sophomore plays even less.
PSU signed Jaquan Brisker top safety in Juco out of Lackawanna.
Interesting  how that all worked out

Funny how Wade and Paris Ford, who didn’t even make the Sun Bowl trip, were the #2 and #3 PA prospects in 2017 and #12 Kenny Robinson at WVU is the DB contributing and starting.

Safety is a different beast. Corners have to be ultra athletic but not overly cerebral football players. It definitely helps but you can have a safety tell you whether to play inside/outside man press, 2 hard/soft, 3, etc. That first game against App state, they scored a TD because psu blitzed a corner from the boundary and wade was to get over and cover. He was nowhere close and it was an easy 6. He was done after that and never really recovered. I think Belichick said he can coach troubled players but not players that aren't smart football wise. I root for all PA kids and just hope Lamont figures it out this spring. The type of recruiting Franklin is doing will make it tough. Time will tell.

That’s why all the stars and rankings look good to high school players but don’t hold much weight in college they are the opinions of some sports writers who may or my not have seen you it’s all opinion the more hype you have the more people jump on board the higher your ranking goes . Forget a state ranking if I recall both those players were ranked in top 300 players in the country

LaMont Wade also had offers from Alabama, Auburn, Michigan, Ohio State, and Oklahoma.

Paris Ford also had offers from Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Notre Dame, and Ohio State

Sure, we can blame recruiting services for overhyping players, but Nick Saban, Urban Meyer, Jimbo Fisher and Bob Stoops also played their role in hyping up these guys. If you are ranked No. 20 in the country and you don’t have the offers to back it up, then yea there might be something off, but if you are ranked that high and all the top programs offered you a scholarship, I’d say the schools that offered have to own some of that from the hype machine.

How has Wade become a consensus bust?  He letter as a true freshman, switched positions playing sparingly at S as true sophomore along with playing on special team units, and is in a position to complete for the starting safety position as a junior.

Penn State is one of the 13 programs in the blue chip club. If you choose to go to a place like Penn State right now, you should expect to battle for time in the lineup.

I have my suspicions as to why people don't like Lamont Wade. I wouldn't be shocked to see him play a lot next season.

JIn my opinion it’s like a domino effect one school offers the rest follow seems like that’s the trend with the bigger recruits one school doesn’t want to be the odd man looking in does a recruit have contact with all these schools and coaches I doubt it you could realistically cut that list in half ..

I had suspicions about Wades ranking from watching him play guilfoyle and Berlin. But I was thinking of him as an RB, LB, and a little corner. I looked up his film from The Opening, and he was phenomenal. Blanketing all the top wideouts in the country at the biggest invite camp in the country. His rating starting blowing up at camps in like 8th and 9th grade tagging along with Boyd, Terrish, and Titus. It went through the roof at the opening. I doubt A football in PA had little to do with it.  Everyone on here should know by now that things like 2k yards or the state td receiving record dont really mean much. I think if he can mentally grasp the safety/nickle position he can really excell.
