Also, the legendary Jerry Page won a ton of games at LV while exhibiting a ton of class and humbleness. That certainly is not always the case and it is unfortunate.

ACTUALLY Portage does have a Cross Country team that has like 12 or so students on It this year. It's rather new(like 5ish years Old) so you might have no idea It existed. Portage ALSO co-op's with Penn Cambria for Soccer and used to before that with Bishop Carroll and always had/has athletes on both teams rosters. Portage's Golf Roster is at 14 again this season and has been well Into the double digits for as long as I remember(two football players actually quit football to golf this year). And last but not least Portage's band is always quite large and Impressive so there Is another choice for them.
Let's not start getting ahead of ourselves like Portage has had this huge enrollment advantage for year's or even a decade or more. Portage never used to be the biggest Single A school In D6, nor have we been for anything but the last year or two. That's just how much other school districts have lost recently and with the classification numbers changing that's where we stand NOW, but we are declining In students as well.

Like the poster stated before It's all about culture and winning. SOME people might not like Coach Gouse or what have you. But he's always got the kids to come out to play football, which is super commendable. The community thrives around Mustang Football and Portage Sports In general. Growing up here you can't wait to throw those colors on and represent that Portage name across your chest because you know who played before you, who's watching you presently, and who's the next little generationwaiting in the wings with bright eyes to be you In years to come.

If the Heritage were do redo and exclude LV, who would be invited to play?
Bill packer at PM has made the the playoffs 12 years straight. (Although that may not happen this year). That also includes some nice district, and state runs. This is the longest CURRENT streak in the heritage. And after 20+ years without a winning season.
With the number of teams that make it in single a is this truly an accomplishment, and how much success was the Damny Ferens junior and senior years,

If other coaches, put in the time like Beitel and Foust, maybe they would be more competitive

So they won it twice in the 9 years prior to 2016 or 22% of the titles. Not exactly dominant would you agree.
Anyone win it more in that period and if so was it purely because the coaching staff put more time in...

I think it is more than that.  LV just has more talent than the rest of the conference.  LV has 3 D1 football players right now while the majority of the teams in the conference have NEVER had 1 in their history.  You have to have some talent to pull in those college offers. Also, no one does more to promote their kids than Roger.  Gotta respect that even if you don't like him as a person/coach.

Bill Packer and Page have done a lot more than beitel has done with half of the talent in the heritage. I can speak to penns manor as a whole being a full on character change. Going 6-4, getting a home playoff game was a superbowl for is in 2007. Moving forward to conference titles, deep d6 runs and success have become a consistent.

Beitel is has a good staff, yes, but he wouldnt have near the success atm if he didnt get to converge or had the talent he has had. Not to mention playing at Ligonier you are not only going against that team but also the refs. Still to this day i can not believe things that have happened there that swing games to the home team

I will agree the system is watered down. I PERSONALLY dont think a 4-6 should be in the playoffs. But, having said that, PM is the only one in the Heritage conference that has that streak.
