Fact or Fiction...The Pirates will see .500 again this year.

Post by Coach »

I'm saying FACT. The starting pitching has been fairly solid and they can't keep hitting this poorly for that much longer....can they? LaRoche will get on track more and the Pirates WILL hit .500 again this year! What do you think?

Way to reach for the stars, Coach. "I wish my team was .500."

I dont get why you geniuses waste your time with baseball. There are clearly 3-4 teams worth a crap, and by that I mean thy have the money to get what they need. The other 76 ballclubs realized they can still make a profit while acting as the Red Sox and Yankees farm system. Add that to the fact that every baseball record is bogus, and you have a recipe for tuning out. How would you like it if your Northern Bedford Panthers traveled up to Claysburg and found out Claysburg made their field 50 yards long with a 4 ft gap between goal posts? The records mean absolutely nothing.

I've been a pirate fan since birth, but now I'm a business man and it is dispicible that ownership makes the 2nd most in all of baseball yet spends 2nd or 3rd lowest in salary. you get out what you put in, the Nuttings and McClatchy do not want to win only to make money.

They win the first game of every series...

...they lose the last 2 or 3 every time.

by my math, they're not gonna get close to .500

I don't want to get off topic too much with this, but I do think its disappointing to see what has happened to baseball in this country and it is a shame that the best, not only the Pirates fanbase, but multiple fanbases for MLB have to look forward too is the hope that their team will reach .500. I just see so much love lost for a game that was once our national past-time. There is just a slew of problems facing MLB and baseball in general and it doesn't help that most of the news coming from baseball, concerns things happening off the field, instead of great stories on the field. The Brewers are having a great season and should be a big story, but it has been overshadowed by a 2 year old bloody sock, a alcoholic pitcher who didn't take responsiblity for his actions, a semi-retired pitchers contract, and the percentage loss of black atheletes in the sport and its only going to get worse now that the Bonds watch is on. The whirlwind of controversy that is going to surround this next month, while Bonds approaches the record, is going to totally overshadow everything else that will happen on the field. Baseball used to be every kids first love, but times are a changing, thats for sure.

Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.

Instead of the fans having walkouts, how about they just not buy any tickets. That would make more of an impact. Don't Give Them Your MONEY
