Athletes are overpaid.

Post by nLions1 »

Well this is something that has bothered me for a long time. There are people in the world that work hard for what they get, and although most athletes work hard as well, lets be honest, a lot of it is pure talent they are born with.

Top 5 paid athletes in 2008:

Tiger Woods: 127 million (Including endorsements)
Phil Mickelson: 62 million
LeBron James: 40 million
Floyd Mayweather Jr.: 40 million
Kobe Bryant: 35 million

Thats the top 5 list, here is a complete list, http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/more/s ... index.html

My question to you is, do you believe athletes are overpaid? Fact or fiction.

fact....they are very overpaid
fact.... the public are the ones that have allowed it to happen. When a mediocre NFL player has a similar salary to the president of the united states, something's wrong.

Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved.

If we don't watch them in person or on the television, then they wouldn't make this much. Television contracts and attendance are what pays these players. Do they make too much? Of course. If they didn't make it, then it would only put more money in the owner's pockets. When are people going to realize that they make this much money because of us?

athletes should play because they love the game not because they love money.
