That’s BS you have to have the players. Yes having good players makes the coaching a hell of a lot easier. Let me give you a good example of how coaching changes every year. 2007 Westmont you didn't need much coaching and Roman probably coached less that year than any year he has coached. 2010 Westmont had 1 returning starter from a team that didn't win more than 10 games. You know they had absolutely nothing this year and still won 15 plus games and won playoff games. Roman had to coach is A$$ off to get that done. The players had to play their A$$ off as well which I feel the coach has a huge part in that.

Not comparing talent to talent, but competition to competition there is no way Windber couldn’t have won at least 10 games this year.

If you want to talk about players and coaching. Look at the NCAA UNC, Duke, UCLA; Kentucky these teams get McDonalds all American’s every year. The PITT's WVU, Butler of the world doesn’t but they are still competitive and still able to compete. I think coaching has a lot to do with a team when you don't have as much talent as some other teams.

Hilltopper relax! I did not say the coach was not important, but Xs and Os is not the most important aspect by far. A good coach will motivate and bring enthusiasm to a program. Dave Roman does just that. My comments were based on Burke not being able to get the top Windber athletes out for his program. If you do not have the players you can X and Os until the cows come in. Roman apparently motivated average players and had success.

Believe me Pitt gets there share of studs each year who could be on that squad. Those teams mean jack crap to me.

Looks like Windber will get their fair share of athletes out this year with a new coach that everybody seems to like as it is.

Sidewinder--------you are a goofball. You should NEVER have to kiss kids Butts to "get them to play for you". Are you freakin kidding me??? Get schools with more than 50 in a class and this "problem" goes away and it may even start to become competitive again ---- this is ---- as long as they don't start having "bullying classes" at the varsity sport level.

And pull your head out of Roman's butt. Average coach outside of what has become a truely pitiful area for high school basketball. You must be related or work at Subway.

Actually I agree with him. Just trying to stir the pot a little to get some lively debate going.
