I disagree that smith gives up ever in a game!!!! He is the only player on the team that fyock never takes out, unless they are up by 10 or more. And in those games teams came back on us (berlin, somerset, portage) until fyock put him back in to save the victory. Smith is an outstanding athlete, and probably the best in the county in all 3 sports. If he woul just play basketball as an only sport year round, could you imagine how good he would be? He will in college and he will make someone an outstanding guard for years to come!! You say he don't play defense, he shut down that nittinger kid last year in the playoffs from nesshannock who was eating kaminsky up at first until smith got on him and shut him down. Smith comes to play every game full force and he has all coaches trying to stop him, which is helping all the other 4 players to excell in the games as well. He finds them and feeds them incredible passes in which they get an easy lay-up. A complete team ballplayer and only cares about the big "W" and another championship his senior year! That was the way the kid was taught and that is why he is "TEAM" first and why they are winning. He could care less about individual accolades, he wants team championships.

Here you go again AB taking this personal. Tyler is a good player but someone has a little differance in opinion how he plays and you start coming unglued. Next thing you know it will be Fyocks fault. Take a deep breath and enjoy the rest of the season.

Why was he first team all west pac as a junior in football? Why did he torch windber for 3 tds last year when shade had a real offense and used him as a wide receiver. why did he have 6 ints this year? Why was frostburg looking at him as a junior in footbal? He can't help it that he had a stupid coach who played fathers kids!! Also any coach that played against him in football loved when his coach took him out of the offense, because they said he was the only one that they were worried about from shade? I talked to coaches personally on this and said boley was an idiot! Why did he make all somerset county in baseball as a junior and sophomore? Why does coaches want him on the triple "a" teams and colleges looking at him as an outfielder? He has accolades in all sports, but you guys on here just keep cutting a great kid down all the time to make someone not as good, look better than him!!! Jealousy gets you nowhere!! Even paul leonard said he was the best all around athlete in the county to him personally!!! And also you guys didn't have him as a top west pac player in hoops anyways, but now you are saying he is great in hoops? Make up your minds!!!

ok tuffnuts, we get it. tyler smith is a good athlete but don't you think you are taking all of this a little to far? coaches do watch out for him and are glad when he is off the court because he is a threat and is very dangerous with the ball in his hands. i didn't mean anything personal by what i said earlier, i was just stating what i thought i saw when i watched shade play this year. just relax, you said what you wanted too and now i think we all are well informed about tyler's accomplishments. this post is about the top players in the westpac, not just tyler smith. everybody is aware of tyler's presense on the court and he is up there if not the top of the players this year.

Hey badpass, you come on here 1 post to say something to me and why would you bring smith and fyock into it anyways. I wish I knew who some of you cowards are on here because I would love to meet you guys one on one somewhere to settle this! Why don't you enjoy the season and let it go, because all you guys on here are all for gibbons and fleegle, and they play hoops all year round and should be good. How can you let an athlete always out like smith? At least he is good enough to play 3 sports and still come into hoops season and still be one of the best with your guys so called all-stars!!! When he plays just basketball in college, you will see how good he really is playing just hoops like your buddies do!!!

I feel the straiser and walker 9th graders will be some of the best athletes to come out of the somerset county from what I saw! I know the young straiser boy plays all 3 sports and is outstanding for a 9th grader. I know both of these boys dads and they were tough good athletes and the apple didn't fall very fall from the tree I see. Good job guys, keep up the good work!! Heck of a season for only freshmen!!!

It appears that the timing of tuffnuts postings coincide with positive PR some other players are getting. You've gotta connection to frostburg football. Is that an answer to the question you posed?

From what I have read on this blog Smith has been given his due and has duly recognized. He is a very good athelete and along with his peers he will be named as 1st team all-county and all-westpac at the end of the basketball season. Will he be considered for something bigger such as all-state teams? I don't know. Hope Smith along with those realize their atheletic gifts and use them to the best of their ability. The intent that some of the other bb players might not be as good as Smith if they played more than one sport is pure bunk. Tuffnuts enjoy Shade's season, its players and hope you get to defend your title. You will have a tuff run in the play-offs. Many talented teams coming out of Fulton county that have done battle against each other all season long. I would like to think you would like to see Shade extend its season as long as possible. This is Smith last shot in HS and he needs everyone of his teammates who enters any given game. So get on board, hope all Smith's teammates play well and enjoy the ride.
