Richland Job
Re: Richland Job
Doubtful Richland is going to give another sweetheart deal for a coach after all the trouble they with the last deal. That's the only way Hollern is going to Richland. Smart money is on Burke, success with Jr. High program and I think he ran the feeder/elementary program which was disbanned when he went to Windber. Bottomline anyone would be an upgrade.

Re: Richland Job
Hollern is the guy if he wants the job. I believe Richland has reached out to several coaches including Cosie from Bishop Carroll. The last resort would be Burke.
This is what I see happening. I think Hollern will not take another job that the school is based around football. Cosie every year a coaching position opens up he applies or pulls his resume at the last minute. If you are already a head coach and every year you are looking for a new job what make you think he will not do the same to Richland. Burke may get the position by default, but will not last more than three years. No offense to him but not a real X's and O's basketball mind and it seems the kids don't like playing for him.
My opinion is that Richland basketball is stuck in the MUDD. It hasn’t won in who knows how many decades and the mind set is installed in the players. Second Bailey runs the school; they are putting everything into the football program which by the way is not the greatest either. All you have to do is take a look at the basketball uniforms and gear this year and you can see who is the step child in that family.

Re: Richland Job
Is there any other interested coaches? Pat Hollern appears to be the guy they want but he wants some security with a teaching position. Cosie Aliquo apparently plays games or is indeed interested but BC threatens to put a curse on him that guarantees eternal damnation! Burke is the last man standing and he gets the job because nobody else wants it. Interesting that he is not a good X's and O's kind of coach, players and parents do not like him but he runs a heckuva an elementary program. Wow, stinks to be Richland Basketball.

Hollern isn't going to Richland. You can squash any thoughts of it now
Re: Richland Job
why so convinced? Obviously he is going to want to leave for better personal opportunities eventually.
Re: Richland Job
yea my bet would be on burke. No way richland would give a teaching position with their current economic difficulties, especially one from mccort as you all see how the last coach who did well at mccort fared at richland.

Re: Richland Job
I find it interesting that Coach Koshute was succesful n the private school and not so successful in the public school. Bob Gongloff was extremely successful in the private school and extremely unsuccessful in the public program (19-52, 3 seasons) Does anyone have more examples of this and also does anybody have a reverse example? (successful in public and failed at a private)

Re: Richland Job
Burke has an overall varsity record of 18-52 in three seasons at Windber.
2007-08 7-17
2008-09 6-17
2009-10 5-18
Not a lot to work with but was unable to get some quality players out for the team.

Re: Richland Job
I am sure there isn't too many examples, from a coaching standpoint why would u want to leave a place that perpetually gets "transfers" that contribute greatly to the talent base, which already draws from catholic schools all over.
