Re: WHAT HAPPENED?
Danny Shipman will be part of the Jayhawks staff, that's the Jeannette Jayhawks. Unless Richland hires him.

Re: WHAT HAPPENED?
You are right they did not like their candidates why do you think they called D.Shipman. Why also do you think R.Durham is now a strong candidate?????????? Think about it don't seem so angry.Tapp wrote:I don't believe that. Why would they call Shipman, he is not even in the area. In a previous post you said they might repost the psoition because they didn't like the candidates. Now you say they called him?

Re: WHAT HAPPENED?
I know coach Durham was not inerested in the Richland job, but now within the last week he is in consideration for the position. I think Richland did some recruiting like all schools should do when filling coaching positions.
Re: WHAT HAPPENED?
I am not angry, didn't mean to sound that way. I heard two or three weeks ago that Shipman applied, this isn't something that just happened. All I am saying is that if he applied that long ago and then last week you said they may repost the position, something doesn't add up. As far as Durham goes, he is not experienced enough to get this job over Shipman, Price, or Burke. I also do not believe they contacted him either.

Re: WHAT HAPPENED?
I see were you are coming from. I know for a fact D.Shipman resume was not in as of 03/30. I also agree that R.Durham resume does not stack up to D.Shipman as well, but I think your wrong when it comes to Burke and Price. If it was out of Durham, Burke and Price don't be surprised if Richland would go with Durham....hint hint

Re: WHAT HAPPENED?
When you’re looking at some of the potential coaches that Richland has to choose from these are the coaches I have heard for sure. Burke, Manippo(sp), Price, Durham, J Callahan, but I don't believe Shipman is in the running.
Breakdown on how I see it right off the bat, I don't know who Price is? Is he currently coaching on a high school level? If not has he been a high school coach within the last 5 years assistant/head. If not he is probably not a very strong candidate. Burke, he has been a head coach for I think 2 years at Windber not very successful and it was in the WestPac. Doesn't know to much about the LHAC and let's be honest Richland is not a top 5 team in the LHAC so if he couldn't win at Windber he is not going to win at Richland in the LHAC. I would scratch Burke. J. Callahan has had success at B. Carroll with Cosie, but will that be enough to be considered. Durham has had success at Johnstown and Westmont under Roman. He is thought highly of in the basketball community and is probably the only 12 month out of the year basketball coach out of the whole bunch. His down fall could be he is young but look at all the success young coaches are having everywhere else. Manippo is an assistant at Forest Hills. Comes from the same coaching rank as Burke. He is also young but I don't know too much about him.
If you’re looking at These 5 guys I would probably go with Callahan, Manippo, or Durham. They all have coached in the LHAC at least 1 year and are familiar with the conference. Personally it doesn't matter who the coach is the next 2 years because J-Town, BM, and Westmont are young and loaded. Richland will not be able to compete. It does matter for the next 3 plus years on who is building the program though.

Re: WHAT HAPPENED?
Price is the girls coach at Windber, a lot of wins over the last few years but never got into the championship game with possibly sone of the best teams to come out of Windber (girls).
Titan, after reading your post, I feel bad for Richland. Should have kept Kochute?

Tapp,
You might be right, but Kochute was pretty bad.

Re: WHAT HAPPENED?
At least with these applicants you will get summer work and an elementary program.
