‘‘Tis the season. High school hoops is just around the corner. Scrimmages are about over and Tip off tournaments start this week. I’ve seen talk about the gents, i would like to start a thread for the gals! Rankings for conferences(LHAC, westpac, heritage) maybe teams you wanna see play, or players you’re excited to watch. I’m down to talk anything basketball(minus private vs public aka Catholics vs convicts lol) but I really wanna see what the thoughts are about the local girls talent.  Good luck teams!!

I believe the best team around this year will be BC girls with no surprise. They have a great chance at making a huge run this year, I think this is the year they make the state championship.

It looks like BC is the class of the LHAC north, but Cambria Heights with Weakland, BG, and Central Cambria are also very strong. FH is most likely rebuilding a little until their freshmen can mature, but those freshmen are very good. The LHAC south should be a battle between historical powers Westmont and McCort. Westmont will count on senior leadership, a strong junior class and a couple of young, talented freshmen to contribute immediately. McCort is led by a couple of sophomores, along with a few upperclassmen, but replacing Thomas will be very difficult. As always, should be a very exciting year for the ladies in the LHAC.

Lady Rangers have a scrimmage tonight, their own tip-off tourney Friday/ Saturday.  EDIT: BGU, Punxsy, State College.  But tonight is Everett, and orig. JV, don't know if they are still involved or not.

Blairsville is team to beat in Heritage. May be one of top 5 AA in the state. Good game to watch Jan 2nd with Blairsville traveling to BC.
A should be battle between BC and JV.
AA will be a fight with Blairsville Bellwood McCort probably more out there
AAA is most interesting to me. Shamokin and Tyrone lost players so will be down alittle. Everett may be team to watch.

Can’t wait to see some games and get to he actual results.

Agreed that Bc will b tough in LHAC. I think fh is in less of a rebuild than some may think.  Strong freshman. Yes.  Upperclassmen who’ve played a ton of ball too.  Deep team.  Could def compete for one of the 2 seeds.  Also like penn Cambria. Had a couple important cogs graduate , but still a tough out.   Central Cambria will prove tough as well. On the other half it might run through McCort.  Possible Bedford will b second place.  Don’t see as much from the rest of the pack.  Heritage south is a toss up btwn homer and blairs. Homer played in the championship last year and fell short.  But I’m  leaning towards blairsville, but homer a very close second.  Both teams have great senior leaders in their best players. After those 2 there’s a drop.  I’m not as positive in the north? West shamokin is the defending champ and will remain until proven otherwise.  Again their senior leader is enuff to put any team near the top.  Penns manor finished second last year, and this years comet team is deeper, talented.  Looking to make that leap to the conferences best.  The rest of section are a year away.  I personally don’t have a lot of insight to the West pac.  Hoping for a great year of hoops and can’t wait to get underway!!

CC girls will be tough after losing just one starter. All other starters and bench players return this year and this will hold true next year as well. Very strong Junior and Sophomore classes

W/o knowing the rosters of Everett and Juniata Valley, it was hard to get a take on the tri-scrimmage last eve., all 3 had their moments, and a couple girls stood out on each team. On the whole, I would say it was pretty evenly divided. As for the Lady Rangers, there is potential there, and they def. need some work on cohesiveness, and need to get tougher inside. The presses were weak, same old story too many blown open layups. I was anxious to see some of the incoming frosh, and they didn't disappoint much. Also found there was a transfer from Somerset I hadn't heard about. This will be a decent season for Lady Ranger fans, but 24-2? Haha. Dream about it. Disclaimer: Please don't think I am in any way putting down any of the girls or their coaching, I just tell it like I see it. Use these comments as fuel to improve yourselves. This goes for the guys' teams too.
