Not necessarily 30 seconds. It could be longer.  Or a stalling warning followed by forfeiture of the ball?

If you've ever played against Ridgeway, you'll say yes.

In wash state they have a 35 second shotclock and the games feel a lot smoother. I say yes

I’m going to say no.  Most teams aren’t disciplined enough to hold the ball for long periods of time.

They have them in a lot of other states. I don’t ever hear anyone about complaining. I think they’re like 40 seconds. So it’s more of a Measure to prevent teams from stalling. Most teams probably won’t use all 40 seconds anyway.

I don’t think it’s entirely necessary, I don’t think stalling is all that widespread across the state.

Under the current rules, a ball handler could stand in the corner being shield by all 4 teammates and the other team could do nothing but foul. I know it's not common to stall an entire game, but stalling with a lead for 2+ minutes is fairly common and my least favorite part of the HS game

My challenge to some of you guys watching games this weekend, just use a stop watch to track average time per possession.

Interested to see what it looks like

Cost of adding a shot clock to a gym and then running it, fairly, is a potential issue. Especially at the 2A/1A level.

Just let the ref warn a team that they're stalling (i.e., not passing or moving the ball around unimpeded), and within 5 seconds or so someone else isn't passed the ball or taken a shot, you lose it.
