Coaching Changes

Post by CharlieConway »

News of changes out of District 5 to my knowledge:

Boys:

Southern Fulton's Hendershot after 27 years retired from coaching.  Saw the job opening in the newspaper the other day.  What a great program he built there!  From what I hear, one of the most respected in the area.

Rumored Chestnut Ridge's Weyant is out after a short tenure.  I haven't seen anything in the newspaper, this is just coming from a few folks that have kids there.  Wasn't there long but had a few good seasons.  Any word on why he is out?

Any word on guys in the area that are looking that could fill these shoes?  I would imagine it would have to be a local or a teacher that picks up the sword at Southern Fulton.  Chestnut Ridge is the interesting one, who steps up with the LHAC on the horizon?
Thanks!

You’d think CH would’ve cleaned house after last years 0-16 in the LHAC. I can’t remember the last time they even got close to a .500 season, but it’s not about wins and loses right. What a joke! If it wasn’t for the Christmas tournament they hold each year with teams like Glendale and NC. They might not have but 1 or 2 wins a year. The CH culture is okay with losing, I guess, in basketball anyway. All the other sports seem to be doing just fine in the LHAC. Maybe it’s a “who you know” culture over there.

The SS Vescovi has sailed a number of years ago. Maybe they can re-animate Felix the Cat-alano.

Heck, you could’ve pulled anyone from the stands, sat them on the bench, and still won ball games with the SS Vescovi. I just don’t see why they won’t shake things up over there.

CH is a Heritage level team playing in the LHAC.  When you don't have the horses to compete it doesn't matter who's on the bench.

CH was the underdog in all but five games this year.  They won three of those plus wins over CC,JV, and FH.  The record they had this year matched the talent they had.  The varsity coaches can do so much.  Maybe have better grade school and Jr high level programs to develop the kids more.
