Nope, I was just curious, thanks.  If part of it is indeed avoiding the private/charter schools and if more public schools start to do it, do you think it will make the PIAA look harder at the public/private controversy?

In the early '90's, CC and PC played up a class in football to avoid the likes of FH, Tyrone, WH, Bedford, etc. Gave them a better chance to win districts

No.  PIAA is a sacred entity (in their minds).
It ain't over until it's over.

I don’t how I feel about teams moving up to avoid other teams, somewhat puts an asterisk next to their accomplishments and number of D6 titles. Like Portage moving up to 5A this year just to “win districts”

There's obviously a few reasons why people move up:

A) Either you are always in that class and a new enrollment number dropped you, and you still want to maintain your normal rivalries. Aliquippa football comes to mind. They want to play Beaver and Beaver Falls to maintain rivalries and cut down travel.

B) Some teams do it to avoid a certain class or certain team. I think a lot of District 10 teams avoid 4A because of Cathedral Prep.

C) Your team is good enough and can handle it. Kennedy Catholic isn't trying to hide what it is anymore. They are a single-A school, and they have a 5-star big man going to Kentucky. No real reason to play Class-A anymore, so they voluntarily moved to AAAAAA.

I don't follow girl's basketball very much. But it seems one could assume the 5A D6 Title game could very likely be Portage vs Hollidaysburg since the other 2 schools in the classification currently having losing records (0-10 and 4-7). Anyone have any insight on how good these 2 teams are? Would it be an interesting game even with Hollidaysburg being slightly 4 times bigger in enrollment?

Girls 5A standings have it:

Hollidaysburg 8-3
DuBois 8-4
Obama Academy 8-5
Portage 7-4

So it appears it is a 6-8-9 subregion.

Thanks Crimson. I just looked at the District 6 teams from the PIAA Classification website which only had Bellefonte, Central Mountain, Hollidaysburg, and Portage. Didn't know it is a subregion.
