What's the scouting report on Highlands? Johnstown plays them Sunday down at Woodland Hills in a non-conference game. I know the one kid has a few small D1 offers and he's only a junior.

The depth in 4A isn't the greatest this season but they are still a decent team. They have a good non-section win against Blackhawk, the team that just beat Quaker Valley on Friday night. They just lost their first section game last week at home against Knoch (74-59). They have a couple kids that are getting D-1 looks. I feel Johnny Crise (#20) is their best player, he's a junior, 6'7" but is very versatile. Luke Cochran (#23) is also a junior, plays mainly point guard, and is just a plain old tough kid. They have good coaching as well.

Unfortunately,  I don't think this game is going to happen looking at the weather report. That whole weekend at Woodland Hills is in jeopardy .

Yea, 10 inches of snow this weekend, or something.  That's a shame because it looked like a nice event at Woodland Hills.  Looked like teams were coming from Philadelphia, New Jersey, Baltimore, DC, Virginia, Ohio ect.

This is from Brad Everett of the Post-Gazette: "Word is as long as those teams make it in, they're going to play. It might not be against the originally scheduled opponent, but they'll play somebody."

The large high school basketball event at Woodland Hills is still on for this weekend, but with an abbreviated schedule because of the weather. The Stand Against Violence Showcase was supposed to have 28 games from Saturday through Monday with 17 teams from Western Pennsylvania, and 17 from five different states. But due to some teams not coming to the event because of the weather, there will be a total of 20 games. Seven will be played Saturday, nine Sunday and four Monday.

One of Saturday’s top games was supposed to be Latrobe vs. Abington. Latrobe is the Post-Gazette’s No. 1 WPIAL Class 6A team and Abington, an eastern Pennsylvania team, is ranked No. 3 in the state. But that game has been cancelled. Abington will now play Kiski School Saturday at 3. Latrobe is not participating in the event.

So Johnstown is planning to play Highlands tomorrow as of this morning, if the storm gets as bad as some think - I'm sure that could slow that down.
