Any truth to this:

Post by knightrider »

I heard hs junior ROnnie Garbinsky beat National Champion Shane Valko at a free style event somewhere! Is there any truth to this, what are the details. I heard their were fireworks after as well?

First off: why would Valko even wrestle him, in a no win situation. If valko would have injured him, wow, but most importantly IF he would lose to him, double wow. I heard he was told to wrestle by his mentors,

Please fill in the blanks!

I researched your question..and yes Ronnie technically beat him. It was at the Ebensburg PAWF Greco State qualifier. And it was a "challenge match". They weren't in the same groups, but Ronnie challenged Shane and Shane obliged. Anyway. you know how Greco matches are, who ever wins 2 of the 3 periods wins the match. Valko dominated the 1st period 6-0, but Garbinsky won periods 2 and 3 by identical 2-1 scores. May never happen again but it did once. No mention of any fireworks.

Like Arte Johnson in his German soldier disguise, peering from between some fake tree branches, on the old "Laugh-In" TV show: "Veeeeeerrrryy Innnnterrresting......but do tell us more," for posterity. Dates on this event.

Thanks, EA. I guess that was for this year, as in a couple weeks ago. Why hasn't anyone mentioned this till this thread? From either side. To "hype" Garbinsky's rep, or to not embarrass Valko after what he did at D2 Nat's.

Ronnie doesn't need any hyping. And Valko is an amazing wrestler, no detractors needed or welcome.

Yeah- anything can happen in any sport. Look at the Flyers and Blackhawks. Both up 2-0 and KILLING their opposition!
