Post by rspring »

Just heard the LHAC Individual Tournament has been cancelled. Was scheduled for Saturday at Bedford.

Lefteye nailed this earlier, Bedford really is trying to cancel their season after losing the Super Bowl.

Why was it scrapped? The weather is supposed to be fine.

Wasn't approved by D6 committee.

Curious as to why D6 did not approve it. Anyone have any information on the subject?

Bedford and Somerset requested permission of D5 in May, at that time D5 took no action stating that the D6 committee would have to discuss. I'd hope that D6 schools made a similar inquiry to D6 at that time. I'm curious as to whether a D6 school or D6 themselves dropped the ball on the matter ... this should have been resolved well before today.

Conversely the WestPac has Portage from D6 as well as 5 Somerset County squads. They had their 1st tournament February 11, 2012; this occurring after submitting a late request and having the tournament approved by D5 at their January 18, 2012 meeting.

My info on this is that at least a couple of D6 schools were concerned/or messed up with the new points system, but was also told that the D6 committee didn't approve the event.

Not trying to place blame, just stating here what I was told. All happened within the last 2 hours.

Per Odoyel's post, nothing I saw in D6 committee minutes regarding this since Bedford/Somerset inquired to D5 in May. D5 said D6 would have to discuss.

This was supposed to be an event that didn't use any points, so for those D6 schools really have 2 different issues.

imo the minutes at both sites lack some details ... for instance I didn't see WestPac 2 approved by D5, nor did I see D6 approve Portage's participation in either WestPac event, though they (apparently) did bless things for Portage.

Anyway I've got a proposal that could wipe this egg off the D6/LHAC faces - hold the event February 9th. It is when the state duals are being held and nobody has events scheduled that day. imo no Cambria County school or Somerset is going to Hershey, so its just a matter of whether or not Bedford would be in attendance, so just have Cambria Heights host the event.

I suppose using their points not used at Boiling Springs? If so a great move, wonder if any other LHAC teams have points available, as some went to Everett last year.
